SURESH RAINA IS THE MAN OF THE SERIES. Starts off saying that he worked hard on his batting. Credits the coaching staff along with Ravi Shastri and co for getting them up for it. Admits that he was looking to bat positively and hopes to do well ahead as well. Adds that the presence of Kohli, Rahane, helps them to field very well.
JOE ROOT IS ADJUDGED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He is the first Yorkshire man to get an ODI and Test ton at this ground, Leeds. Says that it was important to spend time in the middle. Chasing a big total, India lost Rahane in the first over and Kohli, again fell to Anderson, poking outside off. Dhawan fell away after a start leaving India in trouble at 49/3. Rayudu held the innings together with his fifty but threw his wicket away when India least wanted him to. Dhoni tried but failed as the run rate kept building. The wickets kept falling as India were always behind the eight ball and Jadeja did reduce the margin as he hit a quick 68-ball 87 but England completed a 41-run win to salvage some pride.
India won the toss and put England in. England got a good start but fell away again in the middle overs to spinners. Buttler and Root got them back in the game with a 100-run stand with Buttler just missing out on his fifty and Root scoring his ton. They finished on a good total despite Shami bowling well at the death for India.
Cook seems to be a bit relieved and takes the stumps as a souvenir. That is the end of the home season for him. India have lost yet another dead rubber but they will take it as they have won the ODI series 3-1!
