Without doubt, the MAN OF THE MATCH GOES TO RUBEL HOSSAIN for a hat-trick which helped put Bangladesh on the winning side. That's all we have from this one. Join us back for the rest of the ODIs. Until then, farewell!
After play resumed, New Zealand's asking rate increased and it was a virtual high-scoring T20 situation. Anderson and Elliott kept things going well but then were struck back by a hat-trick from Rubel Hossain. From there on, the big shots started ended up being tamely timed catches to the fielders in the deep and Rubel finished with the joint best figures for a Bangladeshi in ODIs!
A very fine win for Bangladesh scripted right here in Dhaka. After posting a good total first up, powered up by the likes of Naeem Islam and Mushfiqur Rahim, they had the Kiwis under the mat earlier by regularly contributing with wickets before rain came and halted proceedings.
Rubel Hossain to Grant Elliott
OUT! Mortaza takes a very fine catch in the deep! A slow full ball, Elliott goes through with the lofted shot. Mortaza from mid off, charges back and takes a wonderful catch, going backwards which is never easy to do. As Kane Williamson will not walk out to bat, BANGLADESH WIN BY 43 RUNS!(D/L method)
Rubel Hossain to Mitchell McClenaghan
A length ball on middle, Mitchell tucks it away through square leg and hands over the strike to Elliott.
A good length ball, hit over the mid on fielder for a single.
Slow off-cutter outside off, Elliott is outfoxed by misses his scooping.
Short of a length, Elliott punches it towards cover. McClenaghan who was hurrying out of his crease, is rightfully sent back by Elliott.
Abdur Razzak to Grant Elliott
Flicks it through mid-wicket to keep strike in the next over.
SIX! And that's out of the screws as well. Full on middle, Elliott sits down and sends the slog towering over the fielder at the mid-wicket fence.
FOUR! Lovely stroke from Elliott. A flighted full ball, Elliott makes room and carves it away over covers.
Mitchell McClenaghan walks out next. Kane Williamson is still yet to come. Might probably be the last wicket then.
Abdur Razzak to Tim Southee
OUT! Southee is out of here too! A short ball on middle and leg, Southee rocks back and pulls it away over the mid-wicket fielder. Shamsur Rehman(sub) takes the catch at the fence. Bangladesh not far from victory here.
Short of a length, Elliott cuts it away past point and takes one.
FOUR! Finds the gap! Short ball down the leg side, Elliott pulls it away in the gap between short fine leg and square leg.
Short of a length, pulled away through mid-wicket for one.
Tim Southee in next.
Maiden five-fer for Rubel Hossain.
Rubel Hossain to Nathan McCullum
OUT! One shot too many and Rubel keeps getting rewards. Short of a length, McCullum was once again trying to clear it downtown but gets it from the high part of the bat. Taken easily by Mortaza at mid off.
A slow yorker on the pads, McCullum pushes it past his non-striker and shows good urgency for a couple of runs.
