Heavy-duty scoring at the Northern Suburbs Cricket Club in Queensland has taken Dominic Michael into the record books of the club. He happens to be the leading run-scorer for the club in a season with 1083 runs in 2012-13. The strong and tall left-hander made his first class and List A debut in the following season for Queensland thanks to Joe Burns' selection in the Australia A squad to play England A and Chris Lynn absence due to injury. He managed to impress selectors in the shortest formats alone and was subsequently named in the Brisbane Heat squad for the Champions League T20 in 2013, having not played a single T20 for the side till then. Half Samoan, he has also played t-ball, baseball and soccer during his childhood.
