It was hard work on the field for the home team. Wickets didn't come their way easily. Still, credit to Abrar Ahmed for picking a 5-for. Nauman Ali though was the standout bowler. He picked only three wickets but plenty of opportunities went down off his bowling.

Earlier, powered by a big century stand for the opening wicket, New Zealand set the tone brilliantly in reply to Pakistan's 438 and Tom Latham's hundred put them in control. Pakistan tried to make a comeback but hardly succeeded in picking wickets at regular intervals. Kane Williamson was the fulcrum of the Kiwi batting as he stitched in handy partnerships throughout his stay in the middle. He went on to complete his fifth double century in Tests - the most by a New Zealander - and that was the moment Tim Southee decided to declare with a lead of 174 runs.

It's been a commanding batting show by the touring team! They batted in the afternoon session with control and the wickets started to fall only when they decided to go for quick runs. The century stand between Kane Williamson and Ish Sodhi has to be the highlight of the New Zealand innings as that helped them in gaining this handy lead.
