Pakistan vs England 1st Test, Day 1 Highlights: England became the first team to score 500 runs on the opening day of a Test match Thursday, putting Pakistan to the sword in Rawalpindi. Four English batsmen scored centuries as the tourists cantered to 506-4 at the close of play. The previous record for runs on the first day was the 494 Australia accumulated against South Africa in Sydney in 1910. More than 500 runs in a day has only been achieved on four other occasions -- three times by England and once by Sri Lanka -- but never on the opening day of a Test. The record is the 588 England ran up on day two of a test against India in 1936. (SCORECARD)

... SECOND INNINGS ...
-
!
Right then, England have ensured that Pakistan will have a tough time if they want to win the game from here. Pakistan will need to come out with something special here. We'll be back soon for Pakistan's response.

!
Pakistan bowlers were good from the start and bagged some early wickets. Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with figures of 3 for 140. Zahid Mahmood claimed four wickets but also became the bowler who conceded the post runs on his debut having given an excess of 200. Not good numbers from the Pakistan bowlers on a whole but they will be hoping on their batters can now put up a good opening stand for them. They surely bounced back from what happened on Day 1.

Finally, England's innings has come to an end. They have recorded their best score so far in Test Cricket against Pakistan. Some positives to take out from this outing for the hosts is that they were really good with the ball in this session. England have posted a mammoth total of 657 here and Pakistan certainly have a task to do. The vistors continued their 'Bazball' approach but lost Ben Stokes pretty early in the day. Liam Livingstone could not make much of an impact on his debut and followed his skipper back to the pavilion. Harry Brook was the man to watch for as he went absolutely berseck getting to his maided 150. There has to be a special mention of the over from Zahid Mahmood where Harry Brook scored 27 runs off it. He was finally dismissed on 153 off just 113 balls and a small cameo from Will Jacks and Ollie Robinson helped England grow in strength.

The ball takes the top edge of his bat and goes high towards the square leg region. Imam-ul-Haq runs to his right from backward square leg and takes an easy catch. England have posted a huge total on the board and Pakistan will now have to bat long to save this Test match.
