A fine all-round performance by Rana Naved of Lahore Badshahs helped guide his team to an easy seven wicket victory over local favourites Chandigarh Lions in the ICL's T20 match played on Sunday.
Chasing a modest 137 by the Lions who elected to bat first after winning the toss, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq led Badshahs were powered by Naved's unbeaten half century and reached the target with four overs to spare.
Naved, who came one down, played freely and consumed only 33 balls for his blazing knock, which were studded with six boundaries and a six.
Earlier, Naved, who was adjudged man-of-the-match, also came good with his medium pace bowling and returned with figures of 4-0-21-1.
Naved steadied the innings after Badshahs lost openers Imran Nazir (18) and Imran Farhat (22) with scoreboard reading 2-45. He had useful partnership with Shahid Yousuf (28) and * after his fall, he led his team to victory with Khalid Mehmood, who remained not out on 15.
For Lions, Ishan Malhotra, who was involved in a minor accident last night, took two wickets for his team.
For Lions, barring T P Singh (28) and unbeaten knock by Lou Vincent (33), the Lions batsmen failed to accelerate the innings and ended with 136/6 on board which in the end proved an easy target for the Badshahs.
Badshahs now have three wins from six matches played while the Lions also have three wins from equal number of outings.
