That is it from us then! Zimbabwe almost managed to pull off a draw in this Test but they need not lose heart. They can take confidence from this game and do better in the second Test, which begins on Sunday, 6th November, 2016 at this very same venue. Do join us at 1330 IST (0800 GMT) on the 6th. Until then, Adios! Take Care!
Sri Lanka captain Rangana Herath thinks they did the job in the end but admits the wicket had nothing for the bowlers early on. Says they cannot rely on the weather and they simply had to stick to their plans. Feels it's a new challenge to lead Sri Lanka and at the same time he enjoys his bowling too.
Man of the Match and Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer is pleased with the performance as they took the match so far right till the end of day 5 and adds they had a lot of positives in this Test. Admits it was tough as Sri Lanka are a quality side but he's happy to contribute with the runs when his side needed him. Says the wicket was playing around a bit today and it was tough to bat on.
Sri Lanka will be a bit disappointed with their bowling. They struggled in both innings to finish the Zimbabweans off after wrecking the top half. After an ordinary outing in the first innings, debutant Lahiru Kumara did well in the second. Eventually, Herath picked up 6 wickets in the game but Dilruwan did his bit with 5 scalps. Stay tuned for the presentation.
Chasing 412 was never in Zimbabwe's menu and things were looking downcast when they lost 4 wickets for 6 runs in 23 balls. But Williams, Cremer and later Mumba gutsed it out to take it into the last half an hour of the match. Had Cremer not had a brain fade or Mawoyo not been adjudged LBW, we might have possibly seen a draw. Cremer impressed with the ball as well, with a 4-fer in the first innings while Mumba shone in the second, with a 4-wicket haul.
The scorecard will say Zimbabwe lost by 225 runs but what it will not tell is the way they fought. They dropped 5 catches in the first innings, which is why Sri Lanka amassed so much in the first place. With the bat, they did well on the second day in the final session but then lost their way on the third morning. But Cremer, Moor and Tiripano fought hard and helped their side avoid the follow-on.
It was as business as usual for the Lankans with the bat, scoring 537 in the first innings, then reaching almost 250 in the second, setting a target of 412. They would have got more, had it not been for the rain last evening. Apart from Kusal Mendis, everyone played a decent knock in at least one innings.
Heartbreak for Zimbabwe. They fought so hard in this Test, especially the lower order, in both innings, but just fell short in the dying stages. Sri Lanka have won handsomely but Rangana Herath will agree that they could have won it quicker.

Dilruwan Perera To Chris Mpofu OUT!
OUT! BOWLED! SRI LANKA WIN BY 225 RUNS! Dilruwan has done it for his captain. He lands this just a bit wide outside off, Mpofu plays down the wrong line and ends up pushing inside it. The ball spins past the outside edge and knocks the off stump out. Mpofu just stands over there, distraught while Dilruwan is running around wildly in joy. The visitors have won this game in fading light with 45 balls left.
