Right then! That's all from this game! Bangladesh have taken the series 2-0 with one game to spare. Zimbabwe would look to win that and go into the T20I series with confidence. The third and final ODI will be played on Tuesday, 20th July 2021 at 0930 local (0730 GMT). Do join us then. Cheers and take care.
Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh skipper, says he is very happy with the way the bowlers bowled, he felt the wicket was playing better than how it did in the first game and they did well to keep them to under 250. States they had some plans but they could have done better as a batting unit but the way Shakib and Saifuddin batted was good.
Shakib Al Hasan, the MAN OF THE MATCH, says that he needed to put his hand up in this game. A lot of credit goes to Saifuddin who showed a lot of composure and a lot of credit needs to be given to him. Adds the wicket in this game was slower and the bowlers were bowling on the wicket so it was not easy to score runs and they had to take their chances but in doing so they lost wickets.
Brendan Taylor, the Zimbabwe skipper, says it was a much-improved performance. States Bangladesh did not panic, they used their experience and won the game. Adds they can be a little more proactive with the running between the wickets. Hopes the last game is something they can win.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, never gave up. At one stage, they were on top and they would have felt that they can level the series but it was not to be. Blessing Muzarabani was brilliant at the start but he conceded a few runs at the end. It was Luke Jongwe who put Zimbabwe on top, picking up two quick wickets and then the two spinners, Sikandar Raza and Wesley Madhevere stemmed the run-flow and were terrific with the ball but they could not keep up the pressure and they ended up losing by 3 wickets. They tried everything in this game but it was not to be for them. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!
Bangladesh started slowly with Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das playing out the first few balls with caution. Tamim hit a few lovely shots before he departed and then they lost some wickets cheaply. But Shakib Al Hasan stayed out there. He first stitched a handy partnership with Mahmudullah and then with Afif Hossain to take Bangladesh close but when Hossain fell, Bangladesh were still in trouble. That's when Saifuddin came out and played a perfect supporting role to Al Hasan. Shakib missed out on his century but he won't mind that as long as his team has won. Credit to Mohammad Saifuddin as well who played a terrific supporting innings.
What a partnership between Mohammad Saifuddin and Shakib Al Hasan! Al Hasan played a very good knock and stayed till the end while Saifuddin supported him exceptionally well to take Bangladesh home and win the series with one game to spare. Zimbabwe gave a very tough fight, they kept on coming but they could not break the stand between Saifuddin and Al Hasan. Overall, a wonderful match.
