Right then! That is all we have from this game. Action in the BBL continues on Manic Monday, 3rd January as Melbourne Stars take on Melbourne Renegades in the Melbourne derby at the MCG. That match begins at 1:45 PM IST (8:15 AM GMT). Do join us for all the action. Till then, goodbye and take care!
Matthew Gilkes is the Player of the Match. He says that he threw away his wicket in the last match and had some plans this time. Says that he loves to open the innings and informs it is the best place to bat in T20.
... Presentation ceremony ...
There's nothing much to say about the Strikers apart from the fact that they are finding it really difficult to play well as a team and get over the line. Short and Weatherald started off well but got out on successive deliveries. Matt Renshaw was then looking really good but he gave away his wicket really cheaply. The Strikers got back in the game with a 45-run stand between Nielsen and Kelly before the latter was run out. This wicket ended any hopes of a comeback and even though Nielsen tried everything, it was just too difficult. In the end, they got bowled out for 144 and were handed yet another defeat.
Since their Sydney Smash loss, the Thunder have been unstoppable. In the three matches after that, at least one batter has played a magnificent innings and Gilkes was that man tonight. Saqib Mahmood and Daniel Sams did not start off particularly well with the ball but it was the debutant, Mohammad Hasnain who got three wickets in his first over and got his team in front. Sangha was given a chance with the ball tonight and he too got a couple of important wickets. It was Gilkes then who inflicted an important run out which got rid of Kelly and after that their bowlers closed the innings nicely. A comprehensive display in the end from the Thunder and they will be mightily pleased.
Sydney Thunder with another good team effort have now won three matches in a row and also jump to third place in the points table. Adelaide Strikers slump to a seventh defeat in eight matches and are all but out of the competition.

OUT! TAKEN! The skipper claims a wicket as well and ends the innings! Good catch by Cutting though! A fuller ball, outside off. Harry Nielsen tries to go big but mistimes it to mid off. Ben Cutting runs from the deep and puts a slide. The ball somehow sticks to his right-hand and he takes a stunner. Sydney Thunder win by 28 runs.
Who will bowl the final over? It's going to be the skipper, Chris Green.
