So, that is it from the finals and the edition of this year's CPL comes to an end! What a tournament this one was, nail-bitters, plenty of sixes, superb catches, excellent bowling and a lot more. It was a tournament filled with drama and surely everybody watching it enjoyed it. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time, take care and goodbye!
The trophy has been handed over Bravo and he along with his team are celebrating! They have written history as this is the first time St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have won the CPL trophy. However, this is Bravo's fifth in total, the most for any player and 4th as skipper. What a man, what a player! Also, you have to feel sorry for Andre Fletcher and co. two years in succession they have seen the other team lift the trophy, it was TKR who beat them in the 2020 final and now it is St Kitts and Nevis Patriots who do so this year. They though were brilliant throughout the tournament but St Kitts and Nevis Patriots probably were the best side this year. WELL DESERVED!
Dwayne Bravo, the skipper of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, starts by commending his team for the way they played and if it was not for them, it would not have been possible, thanks the fans for the support and the goverment for letting them come to the stadium and watch the game. Adds it is very important to believe and you need to do so with the young players and they will come out good and Drakes was an example, Lewis was also exceptional and the overseas players also played their part. Adds that this maybe his best victory, it is a young squad, there are a few experienced players like Lewis, Drakes and Gayle the Universe Boss. Ends by saying they always believed even when they lost Gayle earlier on, he just wanted to take it deep and he knew they would have a chance and he also credits the coach and says it is their second title together.
Andre Fletcher, the skipper of Saint Lucia Kings is up for a chat. He says, the guys played really well. Adds they fought till the very end but also praises Drakes for his effort with bat. Mentions that maybe if they had executed their plans well in the19th over, things could've been different and that costed them the game maybe. Also says, they will learn a lot from their mistakes and come back stronger. Adds he was very confident in the final over. Says, Williams did not miss his length or anything , but that boundary from Drakes took the win away from them. Ends by saying he knows everyone is disappointed, but they need to keep the faith. They are here to win and will showcase that in the next outing.
Roston Chase, is named as the Man of the Tournament, says this award is very special to him. Advices the youngsters to know their strength and then back their abilities to play well in this format. Mentions he is very happy with the effort by the boys and feels they did well throughout the torunament.
Evin Lewis, Hero maximum of the season. He is up for a chat. He says, he only aimed to hit the ball with the bat and he kept backing himself all the time. Adds his side keeps backing him and they supported him really well. Mentions, he has one mentor and that is Chris Gayle.
Dominic Drakes, is the Man of the Match. He says, he just tried to keep his nerve and things worked out well for him. Adds he did not take a run on the last ball of the 19th over as there was no run there. States his father was more nervous than him but he will be happy he won the game for his side. Mentions Bravo gives them a lot of confidence and... (gets a little emotional and is lost for words). Continues after wipping his tears off and taking a long breath, he has a lot of faith in his teammates and says it is all about holding your nerves. Ends by saying while holding his tears back, happy tears, that he is happy for his side and it was a total team effort.
... TIME FOR THE PRESENTATION NOW ...
Fabian Allen says he had a good feeling about the finals and he knew they would win. Adds they had the belief. Ends by saying he was nervos but is happy his side got over the line.
Simon Helmot, the coach of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots is up for a chat. He says, it was a great match. Adds, Drakes has been a champion for the side. Adds he is a great prospect for West Indian cricket. Goes onto say the Kings have been awesome and they put up a good fight.
Joshua Da Silva's turn now! He says, his eyes teared up and he is happy that Drakes was the one to end things for them. Mentions the support they have had the whole season was out of the world. Adds that the skipper, Dwayne Bravo is a GOAT, one of the best in the business.
First up, it is the hero himself, Dominic Drakes. He is up for a chat. He says, it is not just him, everyone from the team contributed. Adds that it was a team effort and he only aimed to play his part. Ends by thanking his father and says this one was for him.
... TIME FOR SOME INTERVIEWS NOW ...
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, Saint Lucia Kings struggled for most parts of their innings, it seemed like they would end with something around the 145-run mark but a cameo towards the end from Paul took them to a competitive total. At one stage, it seemed like it is going to be enough but Drakes' heroics took them over the line.
The bowling was really good for most parts! Chase was outstanding in the PowerPlay along with Wahab Riaz and Alzarri Joseph! There were a few runs conceded by Mark Deyal and Jeavor Royal in the middle overs but after the break, Saint Lucia Kings came back strongly and bagged wickets at crucial intervals. However, they could not handle the pressure at the back, especially the likes of Kesrick Williams and David Wiese. One wonders, why was Alzarri Joseph or maybe Roston Chase not given the ball as both had an over left. The result could have well been different though. However, they did competed really well through out. It was about which side would keep their nerve in the end and it was the chasing team which did so.
Let us relive in short as to what happened in the chase! 160 was always going to be tricky on this surface and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots got off to the worst possible starts as they lost Gayle and Lewis early in the PowerPlay. Joshua Da Silva and Sherfane Rutherford then took their side back on track with a good stand. However, once again St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lost two wickets quickly and that put them on the back foot yet again. They promoted Dominic Drakes above Allen and he along with Bravo got them back into the game. The pendulum shifted once again when Bravo fell. That was not the end of the twists of turns from this game as Allen and Drakes took their side on the verge of a win yet again before Wahab struck. Drakes though continued on his merry way, it came down to 9 needed in the last over and he won it for his side on the very last ball.
Contrasting emotions out there! The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are rejoicing, their players have ran onto the field and are delighted whereas, Saint Lucia Kings are heartbroken, AGAIN! Kesrick Williams is devastated! He will need a lot of consoling. However, there is a new star born here, Dominic Drakes, remember the name! What a knock from him. Take a bow. He has won the game for his side from a position where nobody thought he would. What an innings, what a game, totally worthy of a final.

Kesrick Williams To Dominic Drakes
THERE IS THE WINNING RUN! No super over as the batters have scampered through for one! Dominic Drakes, YOU HERO! A full-length ball, on the pads. Drakes works it towards short fine leg for a single. The fielder tried his best, he dived to his right and did stop it, he even had a shy at the keeper's end in a sleeping position but the single was taken by them! St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the champions of the CPL, 2021. They win the game by 3 wickets.
Is the game over? Is that a boundary or has it gone all the way?

Kesrick Williams To Dominic Drakes
FOUR! THUMPED! There it is, there is the boundary they so desperately needed! SCORES LEVEL NOW! A full-length ball, on off. Drakes throws his bat at it. The ball goes through covers like a rocket. It finds the boundary. This is a magnificent fightback from Dominic Drakes. Kesrick Williams can't believe it, it was not such a bad delivery but Drakes is in some form today.

Kesrick Williams To Dominic Drakes
A full-length ball, around off. Dominic Drakes slashes it towards sweeper cover. The batters pick two comfortably. The throw is a poor one to Williams and it goes over his head. Mid-wicket is pretty deep and Naseem Shah looks for the overthrow but Drakes turns it down. There was an opportunity for the third by the time deep mid-wicket could get to the ball. Groan in the Patriots camp but Drakes has done the right thing. He needs to be on strike.

Kesrick Williams To Dominic Drakes
Very good from Kesrick Williams. He fires in a yorker, on leg. Dominic Drakes looks to dig it out and does so awkwardly. A dot now. 7 needed in three. They need a boundary, they really need a boundary.

Kesrick Williams To Naseem Shah
A full toss, on off. Shah hangs back and whips it across the line towards deep mid-wicket. They take one. Singles won't win them the game. However, Shah does the right thing by getting Dominic Drakes back on strike.

Kesrick Williams To Dominic Drakes
A full-length ball, on middle. Drakes works it towards square leg off the inner half. The batters take a single. Naseem did not want one but Drakes called him into it.
9 needed in the last over! A huge discussion between Andre Fletcher and Kesrick Williams and finally, he is given the ball.

Wahab Riaz To Sheldon Cottrell OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! Oh dear! Late, late drama here. A short ball, on off. Sheldon Cottrell pulls it to wide long on. The batters decide to take two. Roston Chase comes running in, collects the ball and throws it to the keeper at the striker's end. Meanwhile, Sheldon Cottrell clashes with Wahab Riaz as he looks to turn for the second run. The clash not only slows Sheldon Cottrell down but the he also loses his bat. He is not happy as he is seen complaining but the umpire raises the finger. As a captain, Andre Fletcher had the right to turn down the run out appeal and allow Cottrell to bat on but looking at the replays, don't think Wahab Riaz was at fault. Just pure bad luck for Cottrell. The Patriots camp is certainly not happy but that we believe is the right call.

Wahab Riaz To Sheldon Cottrell
FOUR! THUMPED! Sheldon Cottrell gets off the mark with a boundary. A length ball, around off. Sheldon Cottrell makes room and throws his bat at it. The ball goes over mid off and into the boundary at long off. The pressure is right back on Saint Lucia Kings.

LEG BYE! Riaz serves in a yorker length delivery, on the pads. Drakes looks to dig it out but misses. The ball rolls to the leg side off the pads. The batters collect a leg bye.

Wahab Riaz To Dominic Drakes
SIX! BOOM! Drakes is on a roll. Back of a length and outside off. Dominic Drakes looks to pull it across the line, but he ends up slicing it. The ball still has the power to clear the cover fence for a biggie. The match has turned back on the second delivery itself.
