Right, then. That's it from us. West Indies have won this contest comfortably and have come out with a bonus point. Couldn't have started their campaign any better. The series now moves on to Bulawayo where the 3rd match will take place. It will be between the hosts and the Windies. It will take place on 19th November at 1300 IST. Do join us for it. Till then, cheers!
Man of the Match and West Indies captain Jason Holder says it was a good game and credits his boys for playing so well. Mentions he didn't know that they're beating Sri Lanka for the first time since 1999 at neutral venues. Adds it's good to turn things around as this is their first win outside home since the 2015 World Cup and wants nothing but improvement from his players. Praises his debutants and want consistent performance. Hopes they continue to perform like this.
Sri Lanka captain Upul Tharanga says his bowlers did a great job but the batsmen didn't turn up. Feels they couldn't recover after the early wickets. Adds they have to work in their batting department.
The Islanders, when they came out to bat, didn't show any character or temperament throughout. On a track where they needed to see out the first hour and then bat sensibly through the middle period, they were rash and virtually threw their wickets away. This was a target they fancied themselves to chase, but barring two players, nobody really chipped in and formed a partnership. Earlier in the day, a stubborn resistance from the West Indies middle order saw them post a total which their bowlers were eventually able to defend.
A clinical victory for the men from the Carribean. They have put in a very professional performance against the Lankans and have won it in style. Defending a target of 228, they started off on the right note as took early wickets and then kept getting them at timely intervals. Their pacers were the key as they didn't let the Sri Lankan batsmen settle, picked wickets from the start and created pressure that was too much to handle. The spinners then came in and took advantage of that pressure and all this was backed equally in the field.
