That's it form this game where England clinch the Plate by defeating Sri Lanka. Now, on Tuesday, the arch-rivals collide as India Under 19 and Pakistan Under 19 battle out in the middle for a place in the finals. That promises to be one exciting game. It begins at 1000 local (0800 GMT). Do join us for that game. Till then, goodbye!
England U19 skipper, George Balderson says he is very proud of his team today but is disappointed at being knocked out in the first two games of the tournament. Says they talked about how the pitch was slow and taking the pace off was the key along with the spinners bowling well. Ends by saying that this has been a great experience for the team and this has given the whole team great exposure.
Sri Lanka U19 skipper, Nipun Dananjaya, says he does not regret choosing to bowl first and he is happy with the decision. Says the batting was poor and they needed to do more. Adds that the run outs hurt them a lot as well. Ends by saying that this was a wonderful experience but unfortunately they lost today.
Dan Mousley is the Man of the Match for his ton. Mousley says that he has enjoyed opening the innings and that is his favourite position. Says that it was their plan to start the innings slowly and then catch up. Adds that his and Jack Haynes' partnership was good and they have been playing together since they were around 13 years old. Also praises Evison for his knock at the death Goldsworthy for his fantastic bowling performance.
Earlier in the game, England after being put to bat, posted a very good total on this slow surface. Century from Mousley and half tons from Haynes and Evison took them to 279. The Lankans were just not good enough with the ball and they could not pick wickets at regular intervals. And during the run chase, they lost wickets in heaps and fell miserably short of the total. Please stay tuned for the presentation.
England were excellent with the ball. Skipper Balderson struck in the very first over. Rasantha and Mishara added 45 runs between them for the second wicket and that's when Goldsworthy arrived. He started troubling the Lankans and removed Mishara to break the stand. The England players were superb with their fielding as well and deserve a lot of credit for the run outs. Eventually, Goldsworthy returned and picked up 3 wickets quickly to roll over the Lankan batting line-up and the game with a 5-fer.
The Sri Lankans could never get going in the run chase as they lost Paranavithana in the very first over. Ravindu Rasantha was the only man who could battle it out in the middle with a few quality strokes but with partners running out at the other end, his valiant effort was always going to fall short. The communication between the batters was poor during the chase was and three wickets fell in the form of run outs. Apart from Rasantha, only two other batters could manage to get into double-digit scores and that sums up the entire run chase from the Sri Lankans.
Comprehensive victory in the end. This was always coming, wasn't it? England win by a massive margin of 152 runs. The Lankans fell apart like nine-pins and the man with a fifer, Lewis Goldsworthy is getting hugs from all his teammates here.

Lewis Goldsworthy To Dilshan Madushanka OUT!
OUT! Caught! Goldsworthy has bagged his 5-fer and he is absolutely delighted. What a brilliant performance from him! He bowls a loopy ball around off, Dilshan this time targets to go over the mid off region but ends up mistiming it. The ball goes straight to Aldridge at mid off. He pouches it comfortably and ENGLAND ARE THE 2020 UNDER-19 PLATE CHAMPIONS!

Lewis Goldsworthy To Kavindu Nadeeshan OUT!
OUT! LBW! There's number 4 for Goldsworthy and now he will surely be looking for his 5-fer. Nadeeshan is not happy but Goldsworthy won't care. A full ball on middle, Nadeeshan looks to reverse sweep but he cannot connect with it. He is hit flush on the pads. They appeal and the umpire agrees. The replays roll in and show Nadeeshan got a glove there during the reverse sweep. No wonder why Nadeeshan reacted in the way he did after the umpire raised his finger.

Lewis Goldsworthy To Ravindu Rasantha OUT!
OUT! LBW! There goes the half centurion and this should be the final nail in the coffin. It is again a quicker ball which goes straight. Rasantha plays down the wrong line to miss the ball and gets hit dead in front of the stumps. The English players appeal and the umpire raises his finger quickly. Goldsworthy has his third of the innings. England just two away from clinching this Plate final.
