Sri Lanka have taken the lead in this series and now with the remaining 2 games also at Colombo, they will be hoping to clinch the series in the next ODI itself. The 4th ODI is on the 21st of June and will begin at 2 30 pm IST (9 am GMT). Do join us earlier for the build up. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Dasun Shanaka, the skipper of Sri Lanka says that he knew they will chase this down. Good performance from Mendis and Nissanka and hopes they continue the momentum further. On the surface, he says it made a difference as the dew helped the ball to come nicely in the second half. Tells that it was in 1992 when Sri Lanka beat Australia and there is a chance to do it again. Shares that his bowling combination is good and he believes in them. Ends by appreciating the crowd for their enormous support.
The captain of Australia, Aaron Finch says there is a lot of dew but credits Sri Lanka and says it was a clinical chase and innings from Nissanka and Mendis. Adds that he felt that his combination was right, in the first half, the ball was stopping. Shares that they need to bowl under pressure and try and keep learning.
Pathum Nissanka is the Player of the Match for his match-winning century! He says he is pleased with his century. Adds that the conditions were a challenge as it was hot. On the surface, he says it was slow but he enjoyed batting on it.
Stay tuned for the Presentation...
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, knocks from Alex Carey, Aaron Finch and Travis Head took Australia to a strong total. A total which we felt was above par. However, a sublime innings from Nissanka and another excellent innings from Mendis helped Sri Lanka take a lead in the series.
The Australian bowlers just were not upto the mark! Their inexperience showed. Saying that, Josh Hazlewood too was not at his best. They just could not stem the run flow and there was never enough pressure built. Not only that, but the wicket also eased out quite a lot and there was not the same assistance as in the first innings. Still though, Australia would be disappointed as they would have backed themselves to defend this total.
What a chase! What an outstanding chase from Sri Lanka! They have actually got to the target quite easily. Two outstanding knocks from Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis was the highlight. The two added over 150 to help their side take total control of the game. The heat got to Mendis as he walked back retired hurt but Nissanka continued. He scored a brilliant ton and took his side to the brink of victory. It seemed like there would be some drama at the end when Nissanka and Shanaka fell but Charith Asalanka stayed calm and took his side over the line.

OUT! TAKEN! What a catch by David Warner! A special effort was needed to get rid of a man who have done all the damage! Pathum Nissanka, what an innings! A length ball, outside off, slower. Nissanka tries to loft it over covers but fails to power it. Warner runs from the infield and keeps his eyes on the ball. He takes his over his shoulder a one-handed stunner as he gets his left-hand out.
