Right then! That's all we have from this lopsided affair. This also concludes the T20I series. We now move into the second leg of this series, which is the one-off ODI between New Zealand and Scotland. That game will be played on Sunday 31st of July. The action is all set to begin at 3.30 pm IST (10.00 am GMT). Do not forget to join us in advance for the build-up. For now, you can switch tabs and enjoy the action from the game between West Indies and India and Barbados Women versus Pakistan Women. It's goodbye from here!
Mitchell Santner the skipper of New Zealand says that they started off well with the bat and to put up this kind of total was special. Credits the batters for going on the attack straight away. Says he is happy with his team and is glad that different guys have stepped up at different times. Says that they needed to keep the momentum going in the innings. Mentions Mark Chapman as a quality player and says it is good to see the players taking the opportunity when they get a chance to play. Says he is looking forward to the ODI game and says it’s a different kind of game. Mentions that they need to see who to play for that game and says the boys are eager to be a part of it.
Richie Berrington the skipper of Scotland says that it was disappointing today, they knew it was a batting surface, but they missed an opportunity and they cannot afford to miss out on these chances at this stage. Adds that they never had an opportunity to put New Zealand under pressure and he credits them for the way they batted. Further adds that there is no room for error on this batting track. He concludes by saying that they will go back and reflect on their performance and come back stronger in the ODI.
Mark Chapman is the Player of the Match. He says that he was happy to be out there and to contribute. Mentions that he is happy to get an opportunity and score some runs. Adds that they had a plan of hitting the gaps and it went well. Concludes by saying that they spoke about having the right mindset about taking the game on.
Time for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, the New Zealand batters were in devastating form and they began attacking right from the first over. This reached a total of 254 courtesy half-centuries from Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell. There were short cameos from Daryl Mitchell, Dane Cleaver, and James Neesham that contributed to the massive score. Scotland bowlers failed to find the right line and length and were plundered all over the field. Chris Greaves was once again the only player who seemed like he could bowl with any sort of control.
New Zealand have had a pretty easy outing and looked completely in control right from the word go. Seven bowlers were used and six of them had at least a wicket under their belt. This has been a great opportunity for the Kiwis to understand their squad strength building up to the T20 World Cup. If there is anything they need to rectify in this almost flawless performance, is the fact that they should have been able to take all ten wickets. They would have been hoping for a better challenge as the game was already pretty much won by the batters.
Scotland were never really in this game chasing a mammoth target and fell even more behind when they lost their top order in no time. They were reduced to 37 for the loss of four wickets and when skipper Richie Berrington departed next with the team total on 67, the crowd was seen exiting the stadium. Chris Greaves played a cameo and has looked by far the best player on the team. He along with the tail managed to push the total beyond the 150 mark but were well short.
The brings an end to a pretty one-sided affair. Scotland have been unable to put up a fight in either of the games and have lost the series 2-0 to the visitors. New Zealand seal an easy win by a margin in excess of 100. Despite resting their big guns, the visitors have cruised through this T20I series.
