That is it from this game. Papua New Guinea are going to the T20 World Cup next year in Australia as they remain on top after this game. Now, before the playoffs take place, we have the final game of the group stage where the hosts UAE will take on Canada. Do join us for that game. Till then, take care!
Kyle Coetzer, the Scotland skipper says that the wicket is always going to be challenging. They needed to put on runs which was defendable and that was not the case. On good start in the Powerplay, Coetzer says that they were not disciplined with the ball. He says that they got wickets in the middle but credits Ryan for his brilliant innings. For the next phase of the tournament, the Scott skipper feels that they will keep believing in themselves and they will work hard. On PNG qualifying, Coetzer says that they are hard working side and they deserve to be on top of the table. Coetzer wishes PNG a lot of luck.
Pieter Seelaar, the Netherlands' skipper is MAN OF THE MATCH for his superb bowling performance. He says that they wanted to win the match in that 12.3 overs range but a win is always pleasing. Winning 5 out of 6 games is a good result overall states Seelaar. On the surface, the Dutch skipper mentions that because of the hot conditions, the wicket slowed down. On their tactics during the middle over, Seelaar points that they took the pace off the ball and made the batsman use more power to score the runs. Adds that their bowling was outstanding but the batting was not as free flowing as they wanted it to be. On the side's goal, Seelaar says that they wanted to stay unbeaten in this first phase of the tournament but that is not the case. Credits PNG for the superb cricket and adds that they have been the best fielding side of the tournament. Hopes that the pitches will be fresh for the next phase of the tournament which will assist the batters a bit.
Earlier in the day, the Netherlands bowling is what set the victory up for them. Despite Cross' 50, Scotland could only manage an average score. All the bowlers chipped in with a wicket at least and played a big part in the win.
An easy run chase in the end for Netherlands but they still do not get direct qualification for the T20I World Cup. They needed to chase this down within 12.3 overs, they did come out with that intent but lost early wickets. At one point, they were in a spot of bother when they were 31 for 3. However, Ryan ten Doeschate and Ackermann steadied the ship well and once they got in, they started taking the attack to the bowler. When the two were batting, the hopes of chasing this down within 12.3 overs were ignited but then, wickets in quick succession saw that get out of reach. In the end though, they would be happy with the fact that they finished over the line.
