Lucy Hamilton, the skipper of Australia Women Under-19 says they were short of runs and credits South Africa with how they squeezed them. Australia bowled well but we feel, their spinners could have bowled a bit more tightly. There was a lot for the spinners but Hasrat Gill and Tegan Williamson were too short mostly which released almost all the pressure. Australia were fantastic on the field and tried hard to defend their total but as said earlier, a bit more on the scoreboard would have helped them.
It wasn't going to be a straight forward chase for South Africa! Let me tell you, they weren't tested with the bat before in the tournament so anything above 100 was going to be difficult however, Jemma Botha gave an edge to his team by playing a quick fiery cameo of 37 runs in 24 balls. Her innings helped others to take their time. Once she fell, Kayla Reyneke took the baton and along with Karabo Meso build a wall and didn't allow Australia sniff a chance for a comeback.
SOUTH AFRICA ARE INTO THE FINALS! The celebrations have started in the South African camp. It's all about them right now. They deserve a place in the finals! It was a clinical performance from them against a tough, gritty Australia team who didn't give up right till the end. However, right from the innings break we felt Australia were a bit short on the scoreboard. Another 10-20 runs would have made a massive difference.
