So, that is it from this game. South Africa have sealed the series with a game left, the third ODI which will be played on 6th of October at 0100 AM local (1100 AM GMT). Till then goodbye and take care!
South Africa skipper, JP Duminy, says the pitch was not an ideal one. Further adds the pitches here are normally flat. Mentions it was a good effort by the lower order to take them to 200. States they needed wickets up front and they got them. Reckons the players have not yet stepped up to the opportunity, yes it has been tough but they still have another opportunity in the third game to cement their place in the World Cup squad. Credits Tahir for the way he bowled. Ends by saying they are looking forward to the third game and he hopes the guys who are getting the opportunity grab it with both hands.
Man of the Match, Dale Steyn, says the wicket was quite tough but playing the spinners was easier. Further adds he built a partnership with Phehlukwayo and they did well. He feels good entering this game after playing quite a few county games. Reckons the wicket was a little up and down and he would not mind bowling on it everyday. Credits the way Zimbabwe bowled. Ends by saying it was a very difficult track to bat on.
Zimbabwe skipper, Hamilton Masakadza, is disappointed how they let the game go after restricting South Africa to 100 for 7 at one stage. Reckons the bowlers bowled really well first up. Feels that their batsmen need more application. Reckons that the seamers were the ones who were threatening and he is disappointed to lose so many wickets to the spin of Imran Tahir. Admits they needed partnership which they did not get.
Earlier in the day, even South Africa found themselves in a spot of bother after losing seven wickets for just 101. But the comeback man, Dale Steyn, shone with the bat and bailed them out of a precarious situation. His maiden ODI half century and the record 8th wicket partnership with Andile Phehlukwayo helped the Proteas get a respectable total eventually. Zimbabwe's batting flopped but a word of praise for their bowlers. Everyone contributed and will be really disappointed with the way their batsmen responded.
To be honest, the visitors never got going in this run chase. They braved the early challenge by trying to survive the first spell of Steyn and Ngidi but post that it was a meek surrender. Imran Tahir was the chief tormentor as he bagged a 6-wicket haul (which included a hat-trick) and made a complete mockery of Zimbabwe's batting. The red team clearly lacked the required quality and there is a big question mark over their progress.
Zimbabwe were after a tricky target. 199 may not look too big but on a spicy pitch, it's definitely very difficult. To add to that, their fragile batting department and South Africa's potent bowling attack. The picture was more or so clear after watching the way Lungi Ngidi and Dale Steyn initiated with the new balls. They were smoking hot and were banging in thunderbolts. At one point of time, the track looked very dangerous for batting but then it settled down a bit once the bowlers with lesser pace came into the attack.
South Africa have thrashed Zimbabwe here to take an unassailable lead in the series. They are all smiles as Imran Tahir is leading them off the park. Handshakes near the boundary line. It has been a total domination and demolition.

Imran Tahir To Tendai Chatara OUT!
OUT! SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 120 RUNS! Tahir finishes with a 6-wicket haul. What a performance by the leggie! A long hop this time, on middle, Chatara goes deep inside the crease with the pull shot but fails to get enough power behind it. A straightforward catch for Steyn in the deep mid-wicket region. All over for Zimbabwe in this match and the series.

Dale Steyn To Donald Tiripano
Grown up watching Donald Duck and Chip 'n' Dale. This is something like that. Comical. Donald Tiripano stays behind inside the crease to Dale Steyn. Expecting a short stuff but gets a not-so-short-one on leg. He jumps and defends it to short leg.

Dale Steyn To Donald Tiripano
Snorter! A well-cooked bouncer, around the rib cage. Tiripano is hurried up as he tries to fend at it. The ball takes his gloves and flies over the keeper. A run taken.

Dale Steyn To Tendai Chatara
Ha ha ha! It's fun to watch a number 11 facing a pace bowler of Dale Steyn's quality. Chatara just backs away expecting a bouncer. Then he finds that it's on a length around off, somehow touches it with his bat and pushes it towards covers. Runs to the other end more to save his life. Not sure Donald Tiripano will be too keen to face Steyn either.
Dale Steyn is back on. A short leg is in place. Time for some short stuff?

Misses the outside edge and the off pole by a whisker. A flipper probably, landing around off and skidding off the surface, Donald gets back to cut but misses.

Appeal for an lbw! Another wrong 'un which has not been read by Tiripano. He is forward in defense clueless about the spin. Gets hit on the pads, they appeal but the umpire remains unmoved. Maybe, missing leg.
