That is it from this game and the series. South Africa win the 3-match T20 series 3-0. Cricketing action is not over though. Switch tabs and join the coverage of the Indian T20 League. Have a great time. Till then, cheers!
Winning South African captain, JP Duminy says 3-0 is a satisfying result and winning the Super Over game was crucial. Reckons they started off well and they played themselves in the first 10 overs and took advantage of it in the last 10. Says he is delighted that the new players took their chances and rose up to the occasion. Feels that the shoulder is better and he is confident after performing to his best in the series. Feels he has taken his chance and now he is just focused to play domestic cricket and hopes that he gets selected for the World Cup.
PLAYER OF THE SERIES - Reeza Hendricks admits that he had a bad ODI series but he never stopped believing in himself and it paid off. Feels it was a good performance by the team as a unit and he is happy that he was able to contribute for the team. Admits he wanted to bat throughout but missed out. Reckons Pretorius and Duminy batted really well at the end to propel them to the total. He then walks to collect the trophy and celebrate with his team-mates.
MAN OF THE MATCH - Dwaine Pretorius says he enjoyed the chance to bat at no.3 and it was great to bat there. Feels that the top order has been phenomenal and he just tried to do his best. Reckons JP Duminy was striking superbly and him taking on Malinga helped them get to a big total.
Sri Lankan skipper, Lasith Malinga admits that the opposition was strong and feels in this kind of wicket 170 would have been a good score. Reckons the partnerships South Africa took the game away from them. Feels that they were not able to get wickets regularly throughout the series and South Africa always got a partnership going. Feels that South Africa have talented players and good mentality. Says that the experienced players need to understand their role and responsibility and play accordingly. Says the historic win in the Test series was a positive to take from the series.
Earlier in the day South Africa posted 198 runs on the board, courtesy of half centuries from Reeza Hendricks and Dwaine Pretorius and a cameo from JP Duminy. It was Dwaine Pretorious' maiden half century.
Sri Lankan batting was once again poor. They started off well with Niroshan Dickwella taking the charge but from 42-0 they found themselves at 96-6. And when such collapse happens while chasing the team 9 times out of 10 will fall short and it was no different here. Only three players got to the double figure scores and that in itself should tell you the story. Isuru Udana tried his best again but it was not good enough.
The South African bowlers bowled brilliantly in this flat track and picked wickets at regular interval. Andile Phehlukwayo got his career best figure of 4/24 off his 3 overs. Junior Dala and Lutho Sipamla got 2 wickets each but were expensive. Tabraiz Shamsi went wicketless but was economical, giving away just 20 off his 4.
Comprehensive performance from South Africa. They were the better side with both the bat and ball and have wrapped up the 3-match T20I series 3-0. They win the 3rd T20I by 45 runs in DLS method. Andile Phehlukwayo was the star with the ball picking up 4 wickets.
