Right, then! That's it from us. South Africa have another win under their belt in this format and now, lead the 3-match Test series 1-0. The last game will take place in Hamilton and it's equally important for both sides. It takes place on the 25th of March at 1100 local time, 2200 GMT the day before. Do join us for it. Till then, cheers!
Man of the Match, Keshav Maharaj says he feels great to be there (In Wellington). Adds that he kept his hands in his pocket as it was quite cold throughout. Feels confident in his abilities and wants to continue to learn and become an accomplished cricketer. States every game is a new challenge and is looking forward to the game in Hamilton.
Faf du Plessis says it looked pretty dark initially but like in the last few years, his side came through successfully from tough spots. Is happy with his side's performance on such a wicket, especially the tail for batting the way they did. Credits Keshav Maharaj for the way he bowled on a track that suited the pacers. Applauds his players as whenever it has demanded, someone has always stood up and did the job for his team. Lauds his bowlers for putting in a great effort. On the pacers, he states that his pacers kept their heads and did the job when it counted.
Kane Williamson says that South Africa's last wicket partnership (between Bavuma and de Kock) was the starting point of a terrible day for them. Stresses on the fact that it is important to keep the pressure on for longer periods of time. Mentions that the ball was doing quite a lot and if you bowl in the right areas, like South Africa did, you will get wickets. Adds positives are there, like Henry Nicholls' debut Test ton and wants to shake this defeat off quickly. Says he expects the wicket in Hamilton to be quite different to this one, so is looking forward to the challenge. Was quite happy with how Colin de Grandhomme bowled, especially towards the back end of the innings. Knows that his side has a lot of work to do if they are to win the next game. Is looking forward to the rest in the next few days but is keen to get back to training.
Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock stitched in a very important 160-run stand which made sure they crossed the score posted by the hosts. But cameos from Morkel and Philander gave them the upper hand and that got them the very important lead. It turned the tide in their favour and that proved to be decisive in the Proteas clinching the victory.
South Africa had done everything right from the moment they won the toss and put the Kiwis to bat first. The home team struggled but Henry Nicholls came to their rescue with his maiden hundred which meant they posted a score of 268. The pitch seemed improving for batting as the day progressed but even the visitors got off to a false start.
The total was never a problem for South Africa, especially as today was just the third day. It was just a matter of time before the Proteas finished it off. Play was extended by a further half hour and in that time, Amla and Duminy made sure they finished it off as quickly as possible.
South Africa have scripted another victory against the Kiwis. They have also managed to keep their winning ratio intact with this win. After posting a lead of 91 runs, they came roaring with the ball. Their pacers started off really well and troubled all the Kiwi batsmen except Jeet Raval who kept ticking from one end. But Keshav Maharaj grabbed the headlines as he bowled a decisive spell and returned with his career best figures of 20.2-7-40-6. This meant that the hosts could only set a target of 81 runs on the board.
