That's all we have from a hard-fought series. New Zealand end their summer on a bright note with a series win. England, well, they are shaping well in the limited-overs cricket but aren't quite the same when it comes to the traditional format. They certainly need to pull their socks up. Right then, it's time to take your leave. Hope you have enjoyed our coverage. We look forward to your company in near future. Meanwhile, you can go to the concerned tab to catch all the updates from the Johannesburg Test. Until next time, it's goodbye and cheers!
Kane Williamson has been presented with the series trophy. He calls his teammates for some snapshots and they come with their heads held high. They pose and let out a huge roar. Played, New Zealand!
Victorious skipper, Kane Williamson starts by saying it has been a great win for them. Immediately credits England for being good competitors and then shifts the focus on his team. Adds a lot of steel was shown by the middle order, something they have been lacking for a while. On Boult and Southee, he says they are two of the best bowlers in the world and he's never worried about the new ball wickets with the pair around. Admits they didn't get off to the best start today and they knew it could turn out to be a tough day for them. Credits Latham, de Grandhomme and gives special mention to Wagner and Sodhi for sticking it out. Sums it up saying it turned out to be a great series and thanks the crowd for its support.
England skipper, Joe Root says they threw everything they had on New Zealand but admits the hosts batted really, really well. Says it's been a long tour for them and he is proud of his boys for doing well. Adds that barring the first innings in Auckland, it was a very close series. Reckons as a Test cricketer, you want to play a big series and they had the opportunity to do so. Accepts it hasn't gone as they would have liked but they'll take the good stuff from this week into the English summer.
Man of the Series, Trent Boult is really elated to get over the line in the end. Calls it a memorable win for them and credits his partner, Tim Southee for sharing the spoils with him. Adds they enjoy bowling together on such surfaces. Tells us that Test cricket is his favorite format and hopes to have a few more Test matches in the season.
Man of the Match, Tim Southee says it's been a rough couple of days for him (suffering from viral) but it's all good in the end. Adds that it's been a great summer for them and they are happy to end it on the right note. Tells us that there was something for the seamers in the pitch and it remained same throughout the five days. On Boult, he says he has played a lot of cricket with him and they enjoy a good partnership together. Ends saying it's a special series win for them and they will remember this for a long time.
Ish Sodhi, the man of the hour, is up for a chat with Simon Doull. He credits Wagner for the way he played out time with him in the middle. Continues praising him and states they discussed and kept themselves going by saying it's just a matter of 10-12 minutes. Is happy to get words of encouragement from his skipper near the boundary rope. Informs that he got one blow on the finger and that's pretty sore now but the job is done and that will help him forget it. Is disappointed with his performance with the ball but feels it's good to cover it up with the bat.
Two balls, two wickets - that's how Day 5 began. Stuart Broad was in his elements and the others also assisted him well. By Lunch, New Zealand were four down and staring down the barrel. Their last hope was pinned on the shoulders of Latham and Watling but the duo was dismissed in the afternoon session and a loss looked imminent. However, Colin de Grandhomme batted out of character to frustrate the English team, once he got out, the writing was on the wall with Tim Southee not fit to bat at his usual position. Then, New Zealand got two unlikely heroes in Ish Sodhi and Neil Wagner. The pair consumed 188 balls and snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat.
At one stage, England looked like running away with the show owing to their bowling performance on Day 2 but their bowling went flat on the following day and they ended with only a 29-run lead. The English batting fared exceedingly well in the second essay though and courtesy a strong batting show, they posted a target of 382 for the Kiwis. The New Zealand openers showed great resilience yesterday evening and this Test match entered Day 5 with England needing 10 wickets to level the series.
This was one heck of a Test match. England put to bat lost their way (5 for 94) and were revived through the century from Jonny Bairstow and his partnerships with the tail. Tim Southee and Trent Boult once again dominated proceedings to claim all ten wickets in the first innings. In reply, New Zealand were blown away by the might of Stuart Broad and company. Reduced to 5/36, they too got support from the lower order batsmen. BJ Watling and Colin de Grandhomme applied themselves to take it deep and then the Kiwi pace trio did an outstanding job with the bat to narrow the gap.
Phew, this one was for the purists! Those who like the big swing of the bat, powerful shots and bat dominating ball, they hopefully stayed away. Test cricket is alive and kicking. A blockathon to deny a win to the opposition. That too by the lower order batsmen. Cannot get better than this. New Zealand take the series 1-0, the good boys have won and they have avenged the loss in the shorter format.
Time is up! No new batsman coming in. The umpire tells that to the English skipper who has disappointment written all over his face. It's a draw. The players are shaking hands in the middle now. Ish Sodhi returns with his head held high. Gets a big warm hug from Kane Williamson. What an effort! Smiling faces all around in the Kiwi camp. The English players are distraught. They tried their heart out but cannot avoid going 13 consecutive away Tests without a win, their longest winless streak on the road. This is also the first time England have lost a Test series against New Zealand since 1999.

Joe Root To Neil Wagner OUT!
OUT! Wagner nearly survived by using the technology. A flatter ball landing outside off, probably a slider, Wagner stays back to defend but seems to have missed it. He gets rapped on the pads, they appeal and the umpire raises his finger after thinking for a while. Neil is quick to opt for the DRS. The replays roll in and the first frame detects an inside edge. Just when we thought he has survived, the third umpire takes further look at the replays and finds that Vince has caught the ball which had popped out at silly point. Not an lbw, but caught. Wagner's stubborn knock is over, he faced 103 balls and the last partnership consumed 188 balls. Wow, just wow.
Huge shout for an lbw! Up goes the finger and Neil Wagner takes the DRS immediately.

FOUR! Smashes another one away for a boundary. Fetches a short delivery from outside off and hammer-pulls it through mid-wicket.
We are done with the scheduled 98 overs for the day. There is still some time left, maybe three more overs and England are in a hurry to squeeze as much as they can.
