That's it from this game then. New Zealand take 1-0 lead going into the second and final Test. We will be back for that game which starts on 29th November, 2019. It starts at 1100 local (2200 GMT Previous day). Till then, take care.
New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson says that England is an outstanding side and it took a lot of effort. Tells that their middle-order was excellent in helping them put on such a massive first innings total. Adds that they wanted to make sure they do not have to bat last on this surface. Congratulates Santner and Watling for their ton and double ton respectively. Believes that they showed incredible focus out in the middle. Credits Watling for doing that for such a long time. Feels that the surface was good and reveals that few niggles and tired legs stretched the game a bit long. Praises Santner for bowling almost throughout the day. Mentions that this was a great game of cricket played on a perfect surface.
Joe Root, the English skipper, says that their first innings total was not a good one and they missed out the opportunity there. Tells that one or two players should've scored a bigger knock. Feels that the side did a few good jobs but could not carry on. Believes that there are a number of areas they can work on and work on quickly. Feels that the decision at the toss was right but the first innings failure cost them the game. Believes this is not the end of the world and they will look to come back strong to level things up in the next game.
BJ WATLING IS MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that he feels really good. Adds that they wanted to build partnerships and the guys managed to stick well. On his batting, Watling says that he just plays the situation and does not read the scorecard. Tells that he takes a little break between the series to keep the body fresh. Mentions that it is special to play in front of the home crowd. Says that keeping was a bit difficult as there were few balls which did too much.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
From there, there could only be one winner - New Zealand! All England could do is save the game, they had to bat out a little less than 4 sessions. However, losing 3 wickets at the end of Day 4 did not help. Entering Day 5, with batters like Root, Buttler, Stokes, they would have surely backed themselves to save the game. However, a resurgent Neil Wagner struck them. A fifer from him saw his side take an unassailable lead in the series.
Despite finishing with an under par score, the English bowlers had the Kiwis reeling at 127-4. They could have bagged a good first innings lead had Stokes taken the catch of Watling. That dropped proved to be one which cost the visitors the game. Dropped on 31 and he went onto score a massive double ton. He was well-supported by Nicholls first, then by Colin de Grandhomme who scored a half ton and Santner who notched up his maiden ton in Tests. Contributions from the lower-middle order saw New Zealand take a mammoth 262-run lead.
A very well-deserved win for the hosts, they were the more hungrier of the two sides and even during the crunch moments, it was them who came out on top. England though also had their moments. Like on Day 1, they finished strongly courtesy Stokes, Denly and Burns. They could have batted themselves into a strong position but collapsed and ended with a total which was below par.
What a victory for New Zealand, a thumping one in the end! A tremendous effort from the home side! Especially today, they were a bowler down, that to one of the best bowlers going around at the moment, Trent Boult and with just three bowlers, on a wicket which is still decent to bat on, taking 7 wickets against a top class side is not easy but they have done so in just over the two sessions. A whole-hearted performance by Wagner, he is the star for them as all of the last five wickets fell to him. Take a bow! Who would say that guy is a 33-year old, certainly not me judging by the way he bowled today.

Neil Wagner To Stuart Broad OUT!
OUT! Five for Wagner and it's all over for England. Low full toss, slower one as well. Broad looks to work it on the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. Wagner roars out a massive appeal and the umpire agrees. Broad has no option but to review, he does that but it doesn't look like he will survive. Here comes the replay, front foot is fine. Here comes the Snicko, no bat involved. Ball Tracker time, pitching in line, hitting flush on the stumps. New Zealand win by an innings and 65 runs.
Review taken by Broad after the umpire gives him out first ball. Looks dead plumb this one. No bat, shows Snicko. Here comes the Ball Tracker, pitches in line and hitting the stumps. Game over.
Stuart Broad is the last man in.

W
Neil Wagner To Jofra Archer OUT!
OUT! Caught! Wagner strikes and the Kiwis are just a wicket away. Back of a length ball on middle, Archer pulls it well but it goes straight to deep square leg where Matt Henry, the substitute makes no mistake. The umpire is checking for the front foot no ball. It is alright. So, Wagner celebrates.
