Right then! That's all from this one-sided affair. But don't go too far away as the next game of Super Sunday between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave is coming your way soon, at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT). Switch tabs and join us for the build-up. Till then, it's goodbye!
Glenn Maxwell is down for a chat! He says it was a lot of fun to play with Adam Rossington and he set a good platform. After that to get a run a ball was pretty easy. Claims there was no tactical chat and they just observed how their opponents played. He says that they took longer to get used to the wicket and credits his team for bowling well. He says the bowlers built the pressure and were able to restrict them to a reasonable total.  When asked about Adam Lyth’s wicket he says that it was nice to take his fellow teammate out and he was present on the same ground cheering for his century when they were teammates. Mentions the crowd and says they have amazing. Says they have been wonderful and says this competition is good and is fun to be a part of it. Further adds that it is bringing new people into the game and making them enjoy this format as it is still cricket and it's nice to have this interaction with the crowd. Admits that it has been nice to win the three away games, even though they have all been a home venue for him in the past. Adds that the winning momentum is hard to stop and happy they are headed in the right direction.
Adam Rossington is the Player of the Match. He says that the bowlers did a fabulous job to restrict the opponents to a low score. Says that they knew that it will be a tough Powerplay so they wanted to go for it from the start and it was his day so it worked. Informs that his plan was to keep hitting the sight screen and when the ball was in his zone, he would go for it. Adds that it was a nice partnership with Glenn Maxwell and he kept giving him the strike and he enjoyed playing with him. Claims that they have some lads to come from the bench and even though they will miss Glenn Maxwell, they are covered. Admits that it has been a different year with new overseas players and they want to play positively. Goes on to say that the bowlers have been outstanding throughout the tournament and the batters have contributed in turns. When asked if he will be looking for a hundred soon he says fingers crossed.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. Things did not go as planned as they managed to post a par total of 143 on the board. Faf du Plessis and Adam Hose were the two key contributors. They did speak about the wicket being a little tricky but the batters of London Spirit smashed their way through to their fourth consecutive victory.
Well, for Northern Superchargers it's been disappointing. They failed to bowl in the right areas and were taken to the cleaners right from the word go. They probably thought they could put up a strong show here but London Spirit had other ideas. They did manage to grab three wickets but it was a little too late for them. Had they grabbed early wickets and put pressure early on, things could have been different. Northern Superchargers have now lost their third game in a row and find themselves in a spot of bother.
London Spirit walked out to bat with some positive intent! Adam Rossington and Daniel Bell-Drummond put on a fiery opening partnership of 69 runs, with Adam Rossington playing the role of an aggressor while Daniel Bell-Drummond played a perfect second fiddle. Rossington notched up the fastest fifty of the Men's Hundred competition and powered London Spirit to a total of 63 at the end of the Powerplay. Daniel Bell-Drummond departed soon after that, but Glenn Maxwell walked out and started firing without wasting much time. Adam Rossington and Dan Lawrence were the other two batters who did perish but Maxwell stayed till the end and guided London Spirit over the line.
At the halfway mark of the game, we thought the pitch was going to get slower and batting would be tough, but London Spirit did not quite think that. They have made a mockery of this chase and have breezed past through with ease. The crowd at Headingley have been treated with some high-quality shots. It might have not been from the home side, but they have witnessed some brutal power-hitting here. London Spirit continue to sit at the top of the table with this victory.
