Right then, that is all we have from this game. The PSL action continues on 17th February 2022, where Islamabad United will take on Peshawar Zalmi. That game starts at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Although, the buildup will begin well in advance. So do join us for that. Cheers!
Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper of Multan Sultans is also the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that they did not play well and luckily for them they ended on the winning side. He says that it was just in the end that they played well. He adds that the pitch was not that good to give away more than 160 runs but they did and credit should be given to Rossouw and Khushdil Shah for the way they batted at the end. He mentions that their bowling was sloppy today and the wicket was double-paced. States that their batting order has been same and he hopes that they continue to play in the same way they have played so far.
Babar Azam, the skipper of Karachi Kings, says that they played well in the last two games but failed to win those crucial moments of the game. Adds that they are making mistakes in all the three departments and will be looking to correct those in the next game.
Stay tuned for the presentation.
Karachi did not get any wicket till the 15th over but did well to not let the game drift away from them. However as they started getting wickets, runs also started flowing. Asif went for plenty in the 16th over but Jordan and Hamza kept them in the game with wickets of Rizwan and David respectively. It was upto Jordan to bowl a good penultimate over with 29 needed from two overs but Jordan was carted all around the park and with that Karachi have ended on the losing side yet again.
When you have a partnership of over 100 for the first wicket, more often than not your are expected to win the game. However, Rizwan and Masood were little slow to get going and the required run-rate kept going up. Masood departed in the 15th over with Multan needing 70 runs from the last five overs. Rizwan decided to take matters into his hand and the next over went for 18 runs. Rizwan departed in the 17th over in trying to get more boundaries but with Tim David in the middle, that over also went for 15 runs. With momentum back on their side and David and Rilee Rossouw in the middle, Multan were favourites to win this one. However, David departed soon but Khushdil Shah was just waiting for his chance and took the game away from Karachi with some lusty blows in the end. Rilee Rossouw finished it off in style with a maximum and Sultans continue to march ahead.
Multan Sultans have registered their seventh win of the season and have sealed a place in that Qualifier now and on the other hand, Karachi Kings become the first team in the history of cricket to lose 8/8 games in any T20 League. It was a pretty close game though and Multan nearly made a mess of this chase, however their firepower in the middle-order ensured that they cross the line in the end.
