Right then! That is all we have from this match. On the 19th of February, which is also Super Saturday, Lahore Qalandars take on Islamabad United in match number 27. That one will begin at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm IST) but the build-up will begin much sooner. Do join us for the live action. Cheers!
Karachi Kings skipper, Babar Azam says that he is happy for the team and the crowd because they have been waiting for the win. They were targeting 180 but fell short but the plan with the ball was to get early wickets and get the opposition bogged down, which they were able to do tonight. He adds that he tried to rotate the bowlers and not allow the batters to get settled to one pace. He also mentions that Jordan was fantastic with the catch and with the ball as well. He adds that yorkers are always useful at the death and tonight they were able to execute those yorkers well.
Shaheen Afridi, the Lahore Qalandars skipper credits Karachi Kings for playing cricket. Mentions that whoever plays well wins the match. Tells that they will try to not repeat the mistakes they made in this match and will try to come back stronger. Adds that they will give their level best to finish in the top 2.
Mir Hamza is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! Hamza says that there was a bit of bounce and the plan was just to win the match for his side. He adds that the talk with the skipper when he was hit for a six was about where to bowl to Wiese and the plan was to play a bluff, which came out well. He also mentions that he was trying not to bowl length at the death and bowl slower balls and yorkers.
Presentation time...
Chris Jordan is up for a quick chat. On Fakhar Zaman's catch, Jordan says that it was a tough catch as it was quite high but was confident of taking it. Mentions that they stuck to simple plans and in the end, they got the result. On asked about Mir Hamza, he tells that the future of Pakistani bowlers is very bright. Says that he has got everything, his yorkers, his lengths, bowling in the Powerplay and at the death as well. Adds that this was a big game and the boys played very well. Says that they didn't get a good score but they showed character and got the win.
What a clinical bowling effort this has been from Karachi Kings! Babar Azam will be really proud of all the bowlers and the fielders as well tonight. They will not go home without winning a single match and for the sixth season running, have managed to defeat arch-rivals Lahore at least once in the tournament. Mir Hamza was the one that impressed the most tonight as he dismissed Fakhar Zaman early on. He got rid of both openers and picked up two more wickets at the death which meant a total of 3 bowlers ended with 4 wickets in tonight's encounter. The rest of the bowlers too bowled well and Chris Jordan was fantastic at the death, even getting a couple of wickets to his name. All in all, a sensational effort with the ball from Karachi.
This was a simple run-chase that was made to look like a daunting task by Lahore Qalandars. No matter how well the opposition bowled, Lahore were the protagonist of their own demise. Fakhar Zaman fell really early on and after that there just wasn't a single partnership that would bring Lahore back into contention. Mohammad Hafeez tried holding the fort from one end but kept on losing partners and once he fell, Lahore were down to 64/5! It was then a 55-run partnership between Harry Brook and David Wiese that brought Lahore back into the match. In the end though, there was just  too much left to do for the tail-enders and they ended up falling well short of a small target.
Finally, the time has come! Karachi Kings break the duck and after 8 losses in a row, have managed to win a match and that too against inter-city rivals Lahore Qalandars. What a fine bowling performance this has been from Babar Azam's men and they finally have a couple of points on the board. As for Lahore Qalandars, they have been handed a convincing defeat in front of their home fans here.
