Angelo Mathews, the skipper of Colombo Stars says that they can't control the wicket and they knew it was going to turn. Tells that it was a great game. Kandy Warriors were bossing the game for the majority of the second innings but they leaked a lot of runs at the fag end and that cost them in the end. Nimesh Vimukthi and Sachindu Colombage bowled well and they kept things tight in the middle. Vimukthi took couple of crucial wickets and put the Stars on the back foot. It was their pace bowlers who were taken to cleaners and in the end, Kandy Warriors failed to defend the score, where at one point they were on course to register their second win of the competition.
Colombo Stars have literally stolen this win from the Kandy Warriors and they would be over the moon. They did not start well with the bat as they lost Pathum Nissanka in the very first over and Angelo Mathews also struggled against the spinners. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and it was the partnership between Dinesh Chandimal and Seekkuge Prasanna which gave them some hope. However, Chandimal perished at a crucial juncture in the game but Prasanna carried on his merry way and smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground. He scored 32 runs off just 6 balls and chased the target with ease in the end.
