That is a wrap! England Women Under-19 managed a brilliant victory dominating all departments of the game against New Zealand Women Under-19, getting their spot confirmed in the semifinals alongside Australia, India, and South Africa. Now then, the ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup now moves its focus to the next triple header day which is on the 28th of January 2025 where the Bangladesh Women face the West Indies Women along with South Africa Women who go up against USA Women, both at 8 am IST (2.30 am GMT) followed by India Women taking on Scotland Women at 12 pm IST (6.30 am GMT) but you can always join us early for all the pre-match excitement. Till then, have a nice day!
The captain of England Women Under-19, Abigale Norgrove says that they spoke about how important it is to be at this stage and also spoke about backing their skills in the rain break which helped them a lot when the play resumed. Says that they have trained and worked really hard. Adds that she is pleased as a skipper to see every player backing up well. Appreciates the bowlers by saying that they bowled according to the conditions and executed their plans to perfection.
The captain of New Zealand Women Under-19, Tash Wakelin talks about struggling to form partnerships in the middle overs while batting, and that's what caused them to stay behind in the game. She further talks about the English bowling being really good and even praises Kaite for her work behind the stumps. She says that they have a good amount of talent in both batting and bowling and they have worked hard to get where they are, still says that they will take a lot of learnings back home.
... TIME FOR THE PRESENTATIONS ...
Tilly Corteen-Coleman is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her stellar 4-fer. She is all smiles and says that she is delighted and enjoyed bowling in this tournament. Mentions that it is difficult to bowl on such surfaces and appreciates the coaching staff for believing in her. Feels grateful to play domestic cricket in the English summer and says that opportunity helped her a lot to perform well in this World Cup. Appreciates Katie Martin by saying that she did exceptionally well behind the wickets. Also mentions that she was a bit worried when she missed out on a stumping chance early on but did well after that.
England Women Under-19 started the chase well with another good start from the openers. Davina Perrin started from where she left off in the previous game and smashed quick boundaries at will. It was the spell of Rishika Jaswal and her wickets that got New Zealand Women Under-19 a breather from the hitting. Still, it was not enough for New Zealand to win the game. England Women Under-19 got to the score of 90 with 8.2 overs remaining with 6 wickets in hand, claiming their spot at the semifinals.
New Zealand Women Under-19 were asked to bat first under the clouds by the English skipper and they went off to a flyer. Kate Irwin was brilliant with the bat against the new ball and she moved onto her 30s in no time, giving her team a brilliant head start in the game. After her wicket, the New Zealand Women Under-19 batting lineup fell to a collapse. New Zealand were 49/1 in 6 overs and slipped down to 90 runs all out after 20 overs. It was the brilliance of Tilly Corteen-Coleman with her 4 wickets and Prisha Thanawala with 3 under her belt. Katie Jones, the wicketkeeper too contributed with 5 dismissals behind the stumps. New Zealand Women Under-19 were bowled out for 89 in 20 overs.
England Women Under-19 solidified their position in the semi-finals of the ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup with a 6-wicket win over New Zealand Women. With a total of 90 runs on the board, New Zealand Women Under-19 must have felt that they were 20 runs short while setting the target for the English batters. Although a few wickets in the middle did put up a scare, England did well to get to the finish line.

DRINKS BREAK! England Women Under-19 need another 8 runs to win the game with 10 overs remaining and it looks done for New Zealand Women Under-19. Let's see what happens after the break.
