So, that is it from this game! The second game now will be played on the 11th of July. That game begins at 1430 local (1330 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
Natalie Sciver, Man of the Match, starts by joking she could have hit a lot more sixes. Mentions she enjoyed it out there. Adds she got an opportunity to bat with freedom and she enjoyed it. Reckons once you are comfortable on that wicket, you can score easily.
Heather Knight says it is an important win for them. Mentions the stand between Sciver and Jones was crucial and that was the difference between the two teams. Also says Sciver does hit it hard but she was hitting it very cleanly in this game and overall she is pleased with the batting performance. Credits Jones for the way she played and says she is a match-winner. Ends by saying she did have an eye on the DLS score but it would have been good to get a full game in.
Harmanpreet Kaur says they knew there was rain and hence, they wanted to chase but they lost quite a few wickets. Mentions they knew the rain was coming and they were batting accordingly, further says they were getting tuns but they lost too many wickets. Also adds that they fielded very well but they need to control the boundary balls. Admits fielding is an important department and they are improving. Ends by saying every game is important and they would look to comeback strong.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bowl, India did keep England in-check till the 13th over or so but once Sciver and Jones decided to step on the gas, they took the game away from the visitors. The former scored a half ton and almost an 80-run stand between the two got England to a total which they managed to defend to take a 1-0 lead in the series and an unassailable lead in the multi-format tour.
Chasing a big total, India needed to get off to a good start but they lost Verma early. Smriti Mandhana along with Deol did steady things but her wicket and then Kaur's pushed the visitors on the back foot completely before the rain comedown! The action never resumed then after and it was the hosts who won by the DLS method.
So, the inevitable has happened! The game has been CALLED OFF! It is England who win by 18 runs through DLS method! To be honest, don't think had this game gone the full, the result would have been any different. India were well behind and actually needed a miracle to win it. Yes, they might have come close but chasing this down would have been nothing but a miracle.
It continues to rain and chaces of resumption looks bleak! Fingers crossed though!
The umpires have had enough and the covers have been called on for! The players are making their way off the field. India are well behind the DLS score at the moment.

A bit flighted, but not overpitched. Deepti Sharma is too early into her on drive and top edges it to long on for one.
There is a slight drizzle out there but not strong enough to take the players off!

Flighted delivery, outside off. Turns away just enough that Deepti Sharma  misses the drive and the ball goes past the outside edge. Appeal for stumping. Definitely no bat involved. Not Out! Deepti Sharma  manages to plant her back foot just in time.

Sarah Glenn To Harmanpreet Kaur OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Kaur's poor run with the bat continues! Maybe that shot was a little too early to play. Also, she was too close to the pitch of the ball. She steps out and looks to go over mid off but as she was a little too close to the pitch of the ball, she hits it straight to that fielder. India in big trouble having lost two big wickets in quick succession.

Natalie Sciver To Smriti Mandhana OUT!
OUT! The short ball plan has worked. Smriti Mandhana gets caught in the trap set by Natalie Sciver . Similar delivery to the previous one, but this one had some pace to it. Pulls it a bit too well, down the fine leg fielder's throat. Easy one for the fielder.

FOUR! Pulled away nicely. A nothing delivery, really. Gentle, short ball on the stumps. Smriti Mandhana takes advantage and pulls it to the square leg fence.

FOUR! Sciver strays down the leg side side on to the pads of Smriti Mandhana . She's too good to let that one go and easily guides it to the fine leg fence.
