Right then. That's it from the coverage of this game but do not go anywhere as there is another game coming your way. It sees action between Jaffna Kings and Kandy Warriors at 1930 local (1400 GMT). Do join us for the action. Cheers!
Dasun Shanaka, the victorious skipper, is in for a chat. He says that last night they were down and out and needed to come back strongly in this game and Salt gave them a great start. He adds that 195 is a good score on this wicket but you never know what can happen in T20 cricket and mentions that the bowlers need to come good in the next game.
Dhananjaya de Silva, the skipper of Colombo Stars is in for a chat. He says, they could not capitalize during the Powerplay and that is the only drawback in the game. Adds, things could’ve been different if that phase was dealt with in some other manner.
Philip Salt wins the manof the Match award, he says that he's just trying to enjoy his cricket and there's a smile on his face. Adds that it is necessary to get off to a flying start on these wickets because it's difficult later on.
Stay tuned for presentation...
A top class bowling performance by Dambulla Giants! The pacers were taken to the cleaners early on. But the spinner made sure to pull back the game in their favour and put a lid on the run rate. The bowlers took a beating in the middle phase but they kept chipping wickets at regular intervals. The pace bowlers also found some success at the later stage of the innings. Nuwan Pradeep was the pick of the bowler as he picked up 3 wickets. Chamika Karunaratne, Tharindu Ratnayake and Imran Tahir bagged a brace each. While, Ramesh Mendis got a wicket to his name. The batters took the game deep but the bowlers kept their nerve and bowled out Colombo Stars on 177.
Colombo Stars failed to build solid stands. The target was a steep one and their opening pair responded really, it was Tom Banton who was the aggressor. He smacked the ball all across the ball but slipped out as he was looking to settle in. Then, Kusal Perera came in the middle and picked up things from where Banton left off but he too slipped out eventually. All this while, Nissanka was just an observer at the opposite end. He started off slowly and tried to take his side to safer shores along with Rutherford in the middle but that was not the case. Both men were knocked out in their 10s. Although a stand between Chandimal and de Silva gave their side a glimmer of hope but once the pair fell It was all going downhill for them. Their tail-ender though fought hard and smacked some lusty blows but it was too little, too late for the Stars.
What a comeback by Dambulla Giants! Their bowlers were taken for a ride initially, but they were able to pull things back in time and get a hold of the game. The Stars fought till the very end but had no ammo left in their attack.
