Right then, that is it from this game but there is one more game of the Bangladesh Premier League left in the day. Comilla Victorians will take on Dhaka Dominators at the same venue and that game will begin at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GM) but you can join us much sooner for the build-up. Cheers!
Nurul Hasan, the victorious skipper of Rangpur Riders is in for a chat. He says that they played a really good match and thanks the almighty for the same. Mentions this win came through total teamwork. Informs they really need to believe in themselves as they have a good balance on their side.
Shoaib Malik (75* off 45 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Malik says that he was in two minds about whether to go hard at the bowlers or just knock it around but in the end decided to take on a few of the bowlers and it worked out. Adds that he felt comfortable against Taijul Islam and it was not pre-meditated and gives credit to Azmatullah Omarzai to keep on finding the fence when required.
The Presentation ceremony...
Shuvagata Hom, the captain of Chattogram Challengers is down for a chat. He says that it is dissapointing for him as the bowlers could not complete the job. Adds that they lost early wickets, which put them on the back foot. Says that he would've liked to get sine suppport from the other end as well.
Earlier in the game, Shuvagata Hom opted to field first on a wicket that seemed to have something in it for the bowler. He, himself started off with the ball and alongside Afif Hossain bowled really well. Then the pacers came on and the dynamic changed. Mohammad Naim and Shoaib Malik put on a gritty fightback before Naim was dismissed. But instead of slowing down, Azmatullah Omarzai came out and the pair hammered the bowling attack. Malik took a special liking to Taijul Islam as he smoked him to all parts of the ground. The pair put on 105 runs and Malik remained unbeaten on 75 runs as Rangpur Riders put up 179 runs on the board. Mehedi Hasan Rana was the pick of the bowlers for Chattogram Challengers as he took 3 wickets and Hom too bowled well. Coming to the chase, the top order of Chattogram Challengers faltered and even after a repair-work from the middle order, Rangpur Riders bowlers were simply clinical and got the job done.
Everything that could go wrong while chasing a big target did go wrong for Chattogram Challengers as they were reduced to 11/3 inside the first 3 overs. The skipper, Shuvagata Hom then led a spirited fightback and added on 66 runs with Darwish Rasooli. Rasooli got out and Ziaur Rahman came in and just started throwing his bat at everything. Rahman soon fell and Hom got to a half-century but couldn't stay till the end. With no Afif Hossain as well to come out to bat due to a high fever, the lower order was exposed and was soon sent packing.
Rangpur Riders had a big total on the board and came out all guns blazing with the ball. Rakibul Hasan picked up a couple of early wickets and they had the opposition reeling at 11/3. Then came a bit of resistance from Shuvagata Hom and Darwish Rasooli. But once Haris Rauf got rid of the latter, the floodgates opened. Rauf then ran through the lower order and ended up with 3 wickets. The others bowled well and even though Hasan Mahmud got a bit of a tap, he was able to get an important wicket. All in all, a solid display in the field from Rangpur Riders.
A very clinical showing with both bat and ball by Rangpur Riders and they have got back to winning ways and clinched their third win of the competition. As for Chattogram Challengers, they succumb to yet another defeat and their chances of a playoff berth have just taken a big hit.
Right then, as we know, Afif Hossain is suffering from a high fever and won't come out to bat which means Chattogram Challengers have been bundled out and Rangpur Riders seal the game.

Haris Rauf To Taijul Islam OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Another man bites the dust. Haris Rauf gets this third wicket. He is on fire. Well, and that should be the game as well, as Afif Hossain is unwell and won't be able to stride out with the bat. It is a well-directed bumper, on off. Islam goes for the ramp shot but hits it straight down the throat of Shoaib Malik who makes no mistake in the deep. Rangpur Riders win the game by 55 runs.

Mahedi Hasan To Mehedi Hasan Rana OUT!
OUT! STUMPED! Mahedi Hasan tosses it up nicely outside off and the ball turns away. Mehedi Hasan Rana stretches out to block but is beaten past the outside edge. Nurul Hasan is lightning quick to whip off the bails this time and the umpires have gone upstairs. This one seems to be close though. The replays show that Mahedi Hasan has his back leg planted on the line when the bails come off and the decision of Out is shown on the big screen. Also, Taijul Islam is the last man in for Chattogram Challengers.

Mahedi Hasan To Vijayakanth Viyaskanth OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! Two runs were never there! A risky deision that proves to be costly for Chattogram Challengers. It is short, outside off. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth rocks back and cuts it hard past backward point. The call is for two runs. The throws from the deep is flat and hard and Mohammad Nawaz also scores a direct-hit which puts Vijayakanth Viyaskanth in all sorts of trouble. The third umpire confirms that Vijayakanth Viyaskanth is way short and has to depart now.
Is that a run-out? Bullet of a throw from the deep by Mohammad Naim at the striker's end and he gets the direct hit in. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth could be struggling here. It is sent upstairs and the replays show that Viyaskanth is well short. OUT is the decision on the big screen.

Mahedi Hasan To Vijayakanth Viyaskanth
Floated and full, outside off. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth drives it uppishly towards long on. The fielder runs in to his right, dives to that side and saves a certain boundary. One taken.
Strategic time-out! Chattogram Challengers need 60 runs off 30 balls but do not have much wickets left in their kitty. Their tail-enders need to bring something special with the bat in hand. Rangpur Riders have their noses in front here and would look to take a couple of wickets to put the game to bed.
