So, that is it from this game! Happy scenes in the Sri Lankan camp as they get their hands on the trophy and pose for the photographs. After a poor 2017, they have started 2018 with a bang. Bangladesh, on the other hand, started the tournament with flying colours but faltered when it mattered the most. Nevertheless, it is now time for both the teams to turn their attention the longest format of the game. They will be locking horns in the first Test in Chittagong on the 31st of January at 0930 local (0330 GMT). Before we leave, you can switch tabs to the on-going final Test between South Africa and India where the Indians are on a roll to salvage some pride. Till then, take care and bye!
Sri Lanka skipper, Dinesh Chandimal, smiles and says they are over the moon as their hard work has paid off. Mentions Bangladesh are very strong at home and that they never underestimated them in their den. Admits it was a very tough wicket to bat on, especially if you are batting second. Reckons the partnership between Tharanga and Dickwella was very crucial. Appreciates the way the debutant, Madushanka bowled. Ends by thanking the selection committee and also Angelo Mathews for all that they have put in.
Man of the Series, Thisara Perera, says they came back strongly after losing the first two games. Mentions it is a good sign that Kusal Mendis is in form. Credits the batsmen and bowlers for their performance today. Informs he is working hard on his bowling with his bowling coach.
Man of the Match, Upul Tharanga, says it was difficult to score on such a wicket. Opines even though you are set, it was difficult to make runs. Adds the first ten overs were very crucial and Suranga Lakmal and Dushmantha Chameera bowled really well to keep things tight.
Bangladesh skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza, says it was a difficult wicket to bat on and that his bowlers did well to restrict Sri Lanka to a respectable total. Admits losing Shakib was a big blow as they need the experienced man in such a crunch game. Reckons all they needed was one good partnership. Appreciates Mahmudullah for the way he batted and showed how to go about on such a wicket. Ends by thanking the fans for the way they have supported them.
Dushmantha Chameera was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up the important wickets of Tamim and Sabbir to give his team an ideal start. Akila Dananjaya did well to put the breaks in between and also broke the vital stand which at once looked like taking the game away from them. Debutant, Madushanka finished things off with a hat-trick on debut which was the icing on the cake. Stay tuned for the presentation...
Chasing 222 was never going to be easy considering the sluggish nature of the wicket and the way Sri Lanka bowled was exceptional. They were very disciplined with the new ball, not giving anything away and picking up three wickets (one being the big one of Tamim Iqbal) in the first Powerplay to dent the hosts to an extent. However, the stand between Rahim and Mahmudullah did bring them back into the game but once the former departed, the wickets started to fall at regular intervals and with Shakib out injured, it was always going to be an uphill task. Mahmudullah did play a fighting knock of 76 but lacked support from the other end and eventually perished.
After winning the toss, Chandimal elected to bat and they put up a fighting total on a pitch that started to crumble as the game progressed. Tharanga crafted his way to a fruitful half-century and was well supported by Dickwella first, and then Chandimal. After his departure, their skipper ensured that he stays for as long as possible to take the score over the 220-run mark. Rubel Hossain bowled really well for Bangladesh as he bagged four wickets.
A fairy tale ending for the Lankans as they have won the Tri-Series with a comprehensive win over the hosts. Not many would have given them a chance after they started off their campaign with two losses, especially the one against Zimbabwe. They now roared back in some style to silence the critics and have their name on the cup. Well played, Sri Lanka.

Shehan Madushanka To Mahmudullah OUT!
OUT! In the air... gone! It's a Hat-trick on debut for Shehan Madushanka and he has sealed the deal for the Lankans. He lands it on a length around off, Mahmudullah comes down the track and tries to go over mid off. He gets it off the splice and it's a dolly for Akila Dananjaya in that region. Mahmudullah is the last man walking back after a fighting innings. All smiles on the Lankan faces as they barge towards the bowler to congratulate him. SRI LANKA BEAT BANGLADESH BY 79 RUNS TO WIN THE TRI-SERIES!
The debutant is on a hat-trick. Here he comes steaming in...

Dushmantha Chameera To Mahmudullah
Length outside off, guided down to third man for a run. Interesting, Mahmudullah goes for a run and asks Rahman to face next 5 balls in this over.
Powerplay 3 has been signalled. Five fielders are now allowed outside the circle. Also, Mustafizur Rahman is the last man in as Shakib won't come out to bat.

Shehan Madushanka To Rubel Hossain OUT!
OUT! Two-in-two for Madushanka! Sri Lanka cruising towards victory! A good pacy delivery, full and on the stumps. Too good for a no. 10 batsman. He tries to swing at it but is beaten by sheer pace. Before he gets his bat down, the ball knocks the off stump back. A golden duck for Hossain and Shehan will be on a hat-trick in his next over.
Rubel Hossain is the next man in.

Shehan Madushanka To Mashrafe Mortaza OUT!
OUT! Maiden ODI wicket for Madushanka! Not the best delivery but he will be mighty pleased with it. A full toss, a waist height full toss on middle. Mortaza goes for the big slog but does not get anything behind the shot. He hits it flat to mid-wicket where Kusal Mendis takes a sharp catch. Mortaza stands in disbelief as he knows he would have put that ball away 9 out of 10 times but this is the one time he does not. He starts walking back but the umpires ask him to wait as they want to check for the no ball. Replays roll in and the front foot is termed okay. It was touch and go but the umpire rules it in the favour of the bowler. Also the ball is dipping and Mashrafe is given his marching orders. Sri Lanka are now just two wickets away as Shakib won't be batting.

Shehan Madushanka To Mahmudullah
FOUR! Great way to start the over! They needed this especially after a quiet last over. A short ball on middle, Mahmudullah takes on the challenge of pulling, he connects well and it goes over mid-wicket for a boundary. Two runs more than 80 needed of 65 balls.
