And that's a wrap! What a magnificent victory for Bangladesh as they have won this test series convincingly by 2-0. The players lift the trophy for the celebrations and pose for photos. The two sides now have a T20I series lined up, which begins on November 27th, with the first ball scheduled for 12 pm GMT. Join us for all the early build-up, the toss, and every moment of the action. Until then, farewell from all of us, and cheers!
Bangladesh's captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, congratulated Ireland on their spirited performance, particularly in the batting department, and expressed pride in his team's response. He lauded the contributions of Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Hasan Murad. Shanto highlighted the series' positives, including centuries from Liton Das, Mominul Haque, and Mushfiqur Rahim, and praised his team's ability to execute their plan of having the top order bat long and set the tone. He emphasized the importance of continuing to play Test cricket to develop the team's skills and thanked the fans for their unwavering support. Shanto concluded that the 2-0 win was a good sign for Bangladesh cricket and vowed to keep working hard to make their fans proud.
PLAYER OF THE SERIES - Taijul Islam. Islam dedicated his Player of the Series award to the next generation, emphasizing Bangladesh's growth as a Test team. He credited his longevity to adapting and trying new things, and hoped younger players would surpass his milestone of 250 Test wickets. Taijul also appreciated the Mirpur pitch, saying it played a crucial role in the series, and hoped for more pitches like it to help Bangladesh develop as a Test team.
Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh's veteran wicketkeeper-batter, expressed his gratitude and humility after being named Player of the Match. He thanked the Almighty for the opportunity to represent his country and cherished the moments spent with his teammates. Mushfiqur emphasized his desire to continue playing Test cricket for Bangladesh and stressed the importance of guiding young players, acknowledging his responsibility as a senior player. He hoped to contribute to Bangladesh's growth as a Test team and looked forward to working with his teammates to achieve success.
Ireland's captain, Andy Balbirnie, praised his team's performance, highlighting their fighting spirit and resilience. He commended Curtis Campher and Gavin Hoey for their gritty batting and Jordan Neill for his good play, saying Campher looked like he could have batted all day. Balbirnie acknowledged Bangladesh's deserved win, admitting they outplayed Ireland. He also appreciated the challenges posed by the pitch, which didn't turn as much as expected, and praised his team's skill in overcoming them. Balbirnie emphasized the importance of playing top-class cricket to help Ireland's young players develop and identified converting starts into big hundreds as a key area for improvement for the top order. He concluded that the tour had been a valuable learning experience for the team.
Stay tuned for the presentation ...
Curtis Campher's gritty 71 unbeaten off 259 balls was the highlight, frustrating Bangladesh's spinners and keeping the Test alive till the end. He was ably supported by Gavin Hoey, who put up a great fight. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Campher's resolute batting made a draw look possible, but Hasan Murad's late strike ultimately sealed Bangladesh's win. Kudos to Campher for his marathon effort!
Ireland displayed stubborn resistance on Day 5. Resuming the day, Andy McBrine eventually fell to Taijul Islam, and Jordan Neill injected aggression for a while before Mehidy Hasan Miraz knocked him over. However, the session belonged to the resolute Curtis Campher, who stood like a rock, standing unbeaten on 63 from 203 balls. The Ireland tail managed to frustrate the Bangladeshi spinners and dragged the Test into the post-lunch session.
Facing this daunting chase in the fourth innings, Ireland's batters struggled against the spin. Taijul Islam, who proved his class throughout the match, became Bangladesh's all-time leading Test wicket-taker by removing both openers. Despite a responsible half-century from Harry Tector, wickets continued to tumble. By the end of day 4, with Curtis Campher and Andy McBrine at the crease, Ireland had lost six wickets for 176 runs.
Opting not to enforce the follow-on, Bangladesh batted aggressively in their second innings to build an unassailable lead. Openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam laid a perfect foundation with a 119-run stand, and the innings was quickly accelerated by Mominul Haque's 87 and an unbeaten Mushfiqur Rahim's 53. As soon as Haque fell, Bangladesh declared at 297/4, setting Ireland a monumental and effectively impossible target of 509 runs on a cracking pitch. Gavin Hoey managed to take two wickets for the visitors.
When Ireland came out to bat in their first innings, they faced an uphill struggle but showed incredible fight. Lorcan Tucker was the rock, scoring a courageous 75, while the middle order offered resistance. Despite their best efforts, they were eventually bowled out for 265, thanks to the consistent pressure from the Bangladesh bowlers, led by Taijul Islam's four wickets. Bangladesh held a healthy first-innings lead of 211.
Clean Sweep completed! The hosts have dominated both the tests and completed the whitewash by winning this test series 2-0! The match began with Bangladesh's first innings setting a massive benchmark. They posted a huge total of 476, largely powered by exceptional centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim's century in his 100th Test and Litton Das' 128, with vital support from Mominul Haque. Ireland's Andy McBrine was the pick of the bowlers, achieving a brilliant six-wicket haul.

OUT! TIMBER! Two in two for Hasan Mahmud and just like that, Bangladesh have won this by 217 runs. Floated into the batter. Matthew Humphreys gets late to bring his bat down and the ball goes on and rattles the timber.

Hasan Murad To Gavin Hoey OUT!
OUT! LBW! Finally, Bangladesh gets the breakthrough they were craving. Under cutter, on off, Gavin Hoey strides out in front and goes for a front foot defensive stroke but misses on the inside and is hit on the front pad. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Gavin Hoey sends this upstairs in the hope that something might just go his way. Ball Tracker shows three reds with the ball hitting the middle stump and Gavin Hoey has to walk back.
