Liam Livingstone, the skipper of Team Abu Dhabi, says that they were pretty much behind the game while batting but Jamie Overton and Danny Briggs did the job for them in the end. Adds that the bowling attack did brilliantly in this game and credits them. Says that they felt it was a six on the last ball and were quite impatient while looking at the replays.
Jamie Overton is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He says that he tried to take the game deep. Adds that they have a long batting lineup so they back themselves to chase any total.
But, Jamie Overton had different plans and he kept Team Abu Dhabi in the hunt. He got boundaries on regular intervals and made sure that the game was not dead. Things went to the last ball, Hamid Hassan got injured, Anwar Ali came to bowl, Jamie Overton was not on strike and Andre Russell put on a brilliant effort on the field. After all this, the last ball was called a six and Team Abu Dhabi won it!
Given the mighty batting lineup of Team Abu Dhabi, they should have chased it with ease. They did lose a couple of early wickets but Liam Livingstone and Colin Ingram did hit a few big blows to keep them in control. Then came the bowling of Wanindu Hasaranga. The leggie took 2 wickets each in his two overs and turned the game on its head. It looked like Deccan Gladiators would get over the line after that.
Wow, let me check my heartbeat first! What a match that was and it had us on the edge of the seats! Team Abu Dhabi should have won this with ease but Deccan Gladiators fought back hard. It went down to the last ball and despite a brilliant effort by Andre Russell, Team Abu Dhabi got over the line!
