Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by 49 runs
Right then, that is all we have from this game. Perth Scorchers become the first finalists of this year's tournament but who will join them? We will get one step closer to the answer after Sunday, the 23rd of January when Sydney Thunder square off against Adelaide Strikers in the Knockout. That match begins at 1345 IST (0815 GMT). The winner of that match will then take on Sydney Sixers for a place in the final a few days later. Do join us for that match and make sure you tune in early for the buildup which begins well in advance. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Josh Inglis is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that it was a good night and the boys played really well. Tells that he has not played much cricket this year and he tried to keep things simple. Mentions that Kurtis Patterson took the pressure off him and credits him by saying that he was awesome. Tells that he was looking forward to this game and wanted to put in a good performance. Says that he backed himself tonight and played some good shots.
Revenge is a dish best served cold! Perth Scorchers were defeated twice in the knockouts by their opponents, the Sixers in the last edition and after already doing the double over them, the Scorchers have become the first team to make it through to the finals. Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff set the tone early on with those wickets and created dot ball pressure too. Ashton Agar and Peter Hatzoglou then kept things tight and they too got wickets. They will be disappointed though with the way they somewhat failed to close out the innings a bit earlier and their frontline pacers were both poor at the death. Tye too got hammered towards the end but the game was already in the bag. One huge drawback from tonight was the niggle Mitchell Marsh picked up and that could make a huge difference in the final. All in all a brilliant all-round performance from the Scorchers.
Sydney Sixers lost Daniel Hughes before the match started and given the poor form of Josh Philippe, they surely needed Hughes tonight. Philippe and Avendano were sent packing in a jiffy and that put the Sixers on the back foot. With being 5 down for 33, they were already out of the contest and the skipper Henriques tried his best to put some runs on the board. After being 7 down, a nice little partnership brewed between Kerr and Dwarshuis worth 41 runs and that saved them from an embarrassing defeat. Ben Dwarshuis then just kept going and provided some hardcore entertainment as he smoked it to all parts of the ground. He finished with 66 off 29 balls and got the margin of defeat to under 50 runs. The Sixers will now look to make the necessary adjustments and be ready for the Challenger in a few days time.
DONE AND DUSTED! Perth Scorchers have made it to the finals and they have done so in fine fashion. The final score flatters their opponents a bit but the Scorchers were certainly head and shoulders above the Sixers tonight. The Sixers though still have one more shot to make it through to the finals and will look to regroup.

OUT! RUN OUT! Brilliant piece of fielding from the skipper and the Sixers lose their seventh! Full and straight, this is drilled towards mid on. Sean Abbott wants the single and pushes hard for it. Ashton Turner is onto it in a flash and scores a direct-hit at the bowler's end. The replay shows that Abbott is short and the captain really hasn't had much to do tonight but has made a valuable contribution here.
Is that a run out? A direct hit at the bowler's end and Sean Abbott might be in trouble. The umpire sends it upstairs and the replays roll in. It indicates that Abbott is well short of his crease and he has to walk back to the hut now.

Jhye Richardson To Moises Henriques OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! The skipper departs and defeat looms large over the Sixers. Jhye Richardson is brought back into the attack and he starts off right from where he left. He bowls this one slower, fuller and wide outside off. Moises Henriques raeches out for it and looks to carve it behind point. The lack of pace is his undoing and the ball takes the outside edge. The ball loops up a bit and Josh Inglis does really well to dive in front and pouch it.
10.1
0
Jhye Richardson To Moises Henriques
A slower full toss, well outside off and dipping on the batter. Henriques cannot get any timing on it.
DRINKS! Well, we are just halfway through the chase but it looks game over for the Sixers. With 149 runs still needed off just 60 balls and with half their side back in the hut, it will require more than a miracle for them to win this one. The Scorchers have just been brilliant with the ball and their bowlers have been very smart with their changeups. The dot ball percentage so far is just unreal. They will now look to put the game to bed at the earliest.

Ashton Agar To Nicholas Bertus
Bye! How has that missed! The Sixers batters are having a tough time picking up the length. This is fuller, on off and turning in. Bertus goes on the back foot and looks to cut but misses. He looks to be gone for all money but that extra bounce takes it over the stumps and past the keeper as well. They scamper through for a bye.

Jason Behrendorff To Jordan Silk OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Straight to backward point and Jordan Silk departs as well! This is lovely piece of bowling from Jason Behrendorff. He delivers this on a nagging length, just outside off. Silk is caught on the crease but the ball seams away a bit and just that extra bounce proves to be Silk's undoing. In the end, Silk just guides it straight into the hands of Peter Hatzoglou at backward point. Three down already for the Sixers and this isn't looking good.

Jhye Richardson To Josh Philippe OUT!
OUT! Chopped on! It's going from bad to worse already for the Sixers! Josh Philippe looked edgy out there and Jhye Richardson has knocked him over. Jhye Richardson bowls a cross-seamer and bangs it into the surface, around off. It is short enough to pull and Philippe is strong through mid-wicket so he takes it on. The ball just ever so slightly sticks into the pitch and that is what makes the difference. The ball goes off the inside edge and hits off stump. The Scorchers on top of the proceedings here.

Jason Behrendorff To Justin Avendano OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Jason Behrendorff has the early breakthrough and Sydney Sixers are off to a disastrous start here. Dot balls create pressure and Justin Avendano has just crumbled under pressure. Jason Behrendorff hits the length hard and bowls it at the body. Avendano looks to take on the pull but gets hurried on. The ball goes reall high off the top edge and behind the keeper. Josh Inglis does well to run behind and take the catch.

Jhye Richardson To Josh Philippe
Was there an inside edge? Jhye Richardson seems totally convinced that there was a bit of bat involved. Length again, around off and zipping through the surface. Josh Philippe is caught on the crease yet again and the ball goes between bat and pad, but does come off either the bat or the pad. The replay does show that there might have been an inside edge onto the pad and Philippe gets lucky here.

Right on the money from Jhye Richardson. Fullish ball, around off and nipping back in sharply off the surface, Philippe gets caught on the crease and gets an inside edge onto the pads.
