Namibia beat Kenya by 87 runs

That ends an all-African encounter. The final fixture of this day sees Canada take on Oman in Abu Dhabi, which will be a top of the table clash. Do join us for that at 7.30 pm local (1530 GMT).
Gerhard Erasmus it is again, to talk! This time in the form of the victorious Namibian skipper. Erasmus believes that it was a brilliant performance overall. First, he says that the batting set it up, with the captain himself scoring some runs. Then, the bowling did its stuff. On being reminded that the bowling was anyway doing well, Gerhard says that every day is a new day and you need to be good with both bat and ball on that day. On the confidence seeping through with a win over Kenya, Erasmus says that they did manage to scrape through over their African mates in a couple of previous encounters, so the confidence was there, but today, it was an all-round show. Believes that the confidence from this win can be taken into their final match against Singapore and if they do win that game, they stand a very good chance of making it to the playoffs.
Kenyan captain, Shem Ngoche, believes that 181 was a pretty big total and laments the final 2 overs with the ball. Admits that there was no execution of the plans in those last 2 overs. Also rues the lack of starts with the bat, losing wickets at regular intervals. Eventually, considers this as a bad day of cricket and is looking forward to their next game vs PNG. On being asked about the plan for that match, Ngoche says that to forget this game but not repeat any mistakes. Further says that keeping the basics right would keep them in good stead in that match.
GERHARD ERASMUS HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that it is always nice to contribute as a skipper, whether with bat or ball. Praises his team for doing well today. On his batting, Erasmus says that the boundaries were short on one side, hence it was difficult to defend. Hence, the plan was to stay till the 16th over and then go big. On the bowlers doing well, Gerhard puts it down to practice in the nets, especially slower bouncers on grounds like these.
Earlier in the day, it was a good batting display from Namibia. The captain had mentioned at the toss that they were happy with their bowling in this tournament but batting was something they needed to develop. It came good today. First, the second-wicket stand was attacking and then, after a bit of a blip in the middle overs, the onslaught at the death was terrific, with as many as 45 coming in the final 2 overs. Captain Gerhard Erasmus was the chief architect, blasting a 25-ball 52, staying unbeaten. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Namibia looked confident right from the word go. They looked to have assessed the ground dimensions when their batsmen were batting and the bowlers bowled perfect lengths. Only 1 six was conceded in the entire innings, in spite of the boundaries being short. Namibia had hit 6 themselves with the bat. Everyone bowled decently but the duo of Smit and Scholtz was terrific, with combined figures of 7.5-0-31-7.
182 was always going to be tough to chase, be it for Kenya or any other team and they never got off to a start. Lost Irfan Karim to a run out in the second over and it was all downhill from there. Only three batsmen managed to reach double figures.
A comprehensive win for Namibia. This would boost their net run rate nicely, which might come in handy when there is a scrapping for places to be in the top 3. A lovely batting performance first up, followed by a fine bowling display. A clinical all-round show on offer.

Christi Viljoen To Irfan Karim OUT!
OUT! Mix-up and Karim is gone. There goes the first wicket. Around middle, slanting in, Irfan works it towards mid-wicket and sets off. But Gandhi is not much interested. Actually, there is some problem with the communication as well. Aman starts to run but then changes his mind. Now, what has happened is, Karim has seen that start from Gandhi and continued running. Then, he looked up again and saw Aman stationary. Too late. He had to turn and scamper back. By that time, Gerhard Erasmus had got to the ball. A good throw was given to the keeper who collected and dislodged the bails, beating Karim's dive.
