Thisara Perera, the skipper of Jaffna Kings, says that he is always smiling and in the game of cricket you win some and lose some. Tells that toss is never in your control and says that he always tells his players to stay positive and confident. On asked about Fernando, he says, he had a word with the coach and maybe Fernando will stay up in the order.
Dasun Shanaka, the skipper of Dambulla Giants, is in for a chat. He says, this could happen in a T20 game. The momentum does the trick in this format. Mentions, the pitch was really good but their bowlers kept us in check and raided the weak point really well. Adds, they lost two early wickets and that turned out to be the difference.
Maheesh Theekshana is the Player of the Match for his exceptional spell with the ball. He says that he only played only one game last year and he is glad that he is getting more games this time around. Tells that it is all about hard work and dedication which has brought him here.

The Kings bowlers did not have much to work with. They kept things tight in the start and showcased some good fielding throughout. But once the batters found their rhythm it was difficult to keep them quiet. Imran Tahir got rid of the big fish early on by sending back Rahmanullah Gurbaz but were unable to capitalize on it. Even after having 5 specialist bowlers in the side, this game plan did not work at all for Dambulla Giants. The bowlers were hit all across the park by Avishka Fernando and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, but Nuwan Pradeep put his hand up and got rid of the former, it was too little too late.
Jaffna Kings cakewalked their way to the finish line, with some smart batting. Rather than going after the bowlers, the batters made sure to play the ball on its merit. Rahmanullah Gurbaz got out early on, but Avishka Fernando and Tom Kohler-Cadmore kept hitting the ball all across the park and inched closer to the finish line. Fernando though slipped out, which allowed Malik to come to the crease and finish things off quickly to improve their NRR. The batters were right on the money.
A destructive show with the bat by the Kings and they get their first win of the campaign. Dambulla Giants never had the advantage on their side.
