Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the victorious skipper of Galle Gladiators, says that it was a good toss to lose and he thinks that his form has been good recently. Adds that he played well in the Abu Dhabi T10 and he wanted to carry on with that form. Tells that the wicket started spinning so went more for spinners rather than the pace bowlers.
Thisara Perera, the skipper of Jaffna Kings, he says that it happens, losing in cricket but they will come back stronger. Adds that with dew and all, he decided to bowl first but now will prepare better in the next match. Tells that they tried to keep them under 140. Mentions that it is nice to play again for Jaffna Kings.
Samit Patel is the Player of the Match for his all-around performance. He says that Bhanuka Rajapaksa played really well and it helped him a lot. Adds that they were not sure whether to bat or bowl first but it was good that they lost the toss.

Earlier in the day, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Samit Patel helped Galle Gladiators to post a target of 164. It looked like a par score at one time but the pitch suddenly started turning and the spinners took big advantage of it.
The veteran spinners, Mohammad Hafeez and Samit Patel amalgamated to scalp 5 wickets and then Noor Ahmad combined with Pulina Tharanga to take 3 wickets. In the end, a collective bowling performance and a beautiful day if you are a spinner.
A comprehensive win for Galle Gladiators as the defending champions start their new season with a loss as their batting was overshadowed by some quality spinners of Galle Gladiators. All of the Kings' batters got a start but failed to convert into a big store. The pitch was favoring the bowlers in the second half, especially the spinners. They were 75/7 at one stage and Wahab Riaz showed a good fight in the end but it was too late to turn the tables.
