Right then that's it from the penultimate game of BPL 2024 league stage as Fortune Barishal advanced to the playoff courtesy of defeating Comilla Victorians today. Cricketing action continues from BPL 2024 as the final game of the league stage will be played between Khulna Tigers and Sylhet Strikers later in the evening. The skipper of Fortune Barishal Tamim Iqbal is the player of the match and he says he feels happy to have made it to the playoffs. Says that he is happy about how his side played this game and performed. Adds that he knew somebody would score a bit against them and he feels that the bowlers could have done a bit better against Jaker. Mentions that with the bowlers restricting the opposition to 140, he couldn't ask for more. Closes by saying that he aimed to build partnerships and not look at the scoreboard and that the main thing was to keep wickets in hands as the target wasn't a big one.
Litton Das the skipper of Comilla Victorians says that it was a difficult pitch to bat on and Jaker gave them the hope but they will need to improve. Adds that they have a strong tail and he believes in them. Mentions that they thought they could defend it and with the wicket being hard to bat on he knew that they had a chance. States that the deathovers were crucial and those two sixes changed the momentum.

Earlier in the game, after batting first Comilla Victorians managed to put 140 on the board thanks to a good cameo of 38 at the end from Jaker Ali. Other batters did get starts but threw away their good work by not making them count. With a position in the playoffs at stake the bowlers of Fortune Barishal were spot on today with Taijul Islam being the best of the lot as he picked up 3 while Obed McCoy and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up a couple each. Akif Javed took a solitary wicket as well.
The bowlers had to put up a miraculous performance to turn around things in this game but they were not able to do so. There isn't much to reflect on the bowling province as Musfik Hasan took a couple while Andre Russell and Mohammad Enamul took a wicket each while others went wicketless.
Chasing down a tricky total of 140 Fortune Barishal started a bit sluggishly with Ahmed Shehzad departing inside 2 overs with just 10 on board. Tamim Iqbal and Kyle Mayers then knit a partnership of 64 for the second wicket and took the sting out of the game. After the dismissal of Kyle Mayers it was then the skipper Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim who took the game closer to their grasp with a partnership of 39 runs for the third wicket. Tamim Iqbal played a skipper's knock and scored 66 runs while Mushfiqur Rahim and Kyle Mayers played key kocks as well.
Fortune Barishal wins this by 6 wickets and they have sealed the final spot in the playoffs with this victory.
