Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday dismissed reports that the Champions Trophy would be moved out of the country and thanked India for supporting their right to host the event.
"There were some talks of shifting it but we said that it has to stay in Pakistan and it will be staying in Pakistan," PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt told 'Geo News'.
Lauding India's effort at the recent two-day ICC Executive Board meeting in Dubai, Butt said their support was crucial.
"They have always backed us... I think it is a good sign of understanding between the neighbours," he said.
Butt, though, refused to comment on reports that the ICC had kept Dubai on standbye in case the eight-nation tournament, re-scheduled from September 24, is pulled out of Pakistan on security grounds.
"I can't make comments on such statements," he said.
The ICC postponed the tournament in August this year after some teams raised issues with the security situation in Pakistan.
The ICC board met to find a new window for the tournament that is to be held next year with the ICC deciding to confirm Pakistan as a venue after a security inspection and briefing after India's Test tour to Pakistan early next year.
