India enjoy a five-medal haul in athletics on Tuesday, including a gold medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026. The quartet of Vithya Ramaraj, Kiran, Prachi and Poovamma Machettira clinched gold with a timing of 3:29.69. Pooja Singh also added to India's tally by winning bronze in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.84m, despite finishing well below her personal best.

Earlier in the day, Gulveer Singh continued his remarkable run of form by winning bronze in the men's 5000m event with a time of 13:32.75, completing a hat-trick of podium finishes at the Games. The Indian quartet of Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Sneha Sathyanarayana and Harita Bhadra secured bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay final after clocking a season-best 41.06 seconds. India also claimed bronze in the men's 4x400m relay to complete a memorable day on the track.

The Indian women's 4x400m relay team, comprising Vithya Ramaraj, Kiran, Prachi and Poovamma Machettira, clinched the gold medal for India. It is India's first athletics gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. The country's medal tally has now risen to 51.

After the women's team's golden triumph, India's men's 4x400m relay team added another bronze to the country's medal tally. Dharamveer Chaudhary, Manu, Jay Kumar and Vishal Thennarasu produced a commendable effort to finish on the podium, taking India's overall tally to 52 medals, including six golds.

Pooja wins India's 50th medal at Asian Games, finishing 3rd in the women's high jump final. Pooja fared well below her personal best with a leap of 1.84 metre but that was enough to clinch a bronze medal in women's high jump.

The 4x100m mixed relay final is up next, with India's Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, Sneha Shanuvali and Harita Bhadra set to take the track.

Another medal for India! Gulveer Singh clocked 13:32.75 to secure bronze in the men's 5000m final, completing a hat-trick of medals at the Asian Games. Bahrain's Birhanu Balew won gold, while Japan's Tomonori Yamaguchi settled for silver.

Pooja remains among the leaders after clearing every height on her first attempt. Uzbekistan's Barnokhon Sayfullaeva and Kazakhstan's Kristina Ovchinnikova are currently tied with the Indian in the race for gold.

Gulveer Singh will be chasing his third medal of the Games in the men's 5000m final. However, India has suffered a setback, with Avinash Sable marked as DNS (Did Not Start), ruling him out before the race could even begin.

India's Mohammad Afsal finished last in the men's 800m final with a time of 1:48.27. Japan's [insert athlete's name] set a new Asian Games record of 1:44.48 to clinch the gold medal. Iran's Ali Amirian set a personal best to win silver, while Qatar's Abubaker Abdalla claimed bronze.

Dev Kumar Meena scripts history with a national record clearance of 5.50m. Despite the achievement, both he and fellow Indian Kuldeep Kumar remain outside the medal positions.

India's Pooja finished seventh in the women's 800m final with a time of 2:06.72. China's Hongjiao won the gold medal, while Bahrain's Nelly Korir and Philippines' Victoria Bassong claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

Pooja remains in contention for gold after successfully clearing 1.80m on her first attempt. Kazakhstan's Kristina Ovchinnikova is yet to enter the competition.

India's Anushka Yadav and Tanya Chaudhary have taken the field in the women's hammer throw final. 

Pooja continues to impress in the women's high jump final, clearing both 1.70m and 1.75m at the first time of asking. The Indian athlete currently leads the field and has strengthened India's hopes of a medal.

The men's pole vault medal race is slipping away from India, with Dev Kumar Meena and Kuldeep Kumar both outside the top three at the moment. Up front, the contest for gold is becoming increasingly intense.

Pooja currently leads the field after clearing 1.70m on her first attempt. However, seven athletes are yet to enter the competition, having opted to begin at a higher opening height.

Dev Kumar Meena climbs back into third place with a successful first-time clearance at 5.35m. However, Kuldeep Kumar fails to clear the height and remains fifth for now.

The women's high jump final is up next, with India's Pooja and Supriya Basavaraju set to compete. Pooja enters the event as one of the leading medal prospects after clinching gold at the Asian Athletics Championships.

China's Jie Yao moves into the lead after clearing 5.30m on his first attempt. The Chinese vaulter now sits at the top of the standings, with India's Dev Kumar Meena and Kuldeep Kumar dropping out of the medal positions.

Dev Kumar Meena, meanwhile, is unable to clear 5.20m on his first attempt but gets over the bar on his second. He did not attempt 5.05m. Kuldeep Kumar also clears 5.20m on his second attempt.

Kuldeep Kumar slips to the bronze-medal position, with Japan's Tomoya Karasawa and Chinese Taipei's Yan-han Wu occupying first and second places, respectively, after clearing 5.20m.  Kuldeep failed to clear 5.20m on his first attempt.

Yong-fu Huan finally clears 5.05m on his third attempt after two early failures. The Chinese vaulter slots into third place for the time being.

India's Kuldeep Kumar clears 5.05m on his first attempt and joins China's Yan-han Wu at the top of the standings. A confident start from the pole vaulter from Madhya Pradesh.

China's Yan-han Wu is in action first. He attempts 5.05m and clears it brilliantly on his first try. His compatriot, Yong-fu Huan, however, fails on his first attempt at the same height.
