India's day at the Asian Games has come to a close today. India finish the day on the eighth spot. 

Bhambri and Rutuja Bhosale have lost their mixed doubles quarterfinal 3-6 4-6 to Chinese Taipei's Su-Wei Hsieh and Chun-Hsion Tseng.

Yuki Bhambri/Rutuja Bhosale is under pressure against Chinese Taipei's Chun-hsin Tseng/Su-wei Hsieh in a mixed doubles second round match. The Indian pair has lost the first set 6-3.

While India's Deepu Mallesh entered the quarterfinals of the men's speed climbing competition of the Asian Games after finishing 11th in the qualification rounds, in the women's speed climbing Joga Purti could not progress. 

The in-form Indian women's hockey team placed itself on the verge of ending a 44-year-old wait for an Asian Games gold, beating South Korea 2-0 to enter the final of the continental showpiece on Wednesday. Ishika Chaudhary (44th minute) and skipper Salima Tete (48th) were the goal scorers for India. India are now just a victory away from securing its only second Asian Games women's hockey gold medal. The previous triumph came way back in the 1982 New Delhi games.

Indian cyclists experienced a disappointing outing in the Asian Games with both the men's and women's riders crashing out. India's Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam and David Beckham Elkatohchoongo got through the first qualifying round. David clocked 9.996 to finish 14th and behind him was Ronaldo with a timing of 10.052 in the men's Sprint event.

However, they both crashed out in the 1/16 Finals. Ronaldo was second behind China's Zhiwei Li in Heat 2 while Beckham came second with Malaysia's Mohammad Azizulhasni Awang finishing first. Both Ronaldo and Beckham then finished second in the 1/16 Repechage Heats.

In the women's Keirin event, both the Indian riders failed to make it past the first round. In Heat 2, Sarita Kumari finished fifth with a timing of 12.423 while Keerthi Chikka Rangaswamy clocked 11.740 to finish fourth in Heat 3.

Meanwhile, in women's hockey semi-final between India have taken 1-0 lead against South Korea. Ishika scored the goal in the third quarter

Yuki Bhambri-Dhakshineshwar Suresh in men's doubles quarterfinals  against Chinese Taipei's Ho Chenjui and Hsu Yu-hsiou in straight sets - 6-7 (5-7), 3-6. That's the end of their journey. One mixed double event remains.

There's another match loading in tennis. Yuki Bhambri/Rutuja Bhosale will face Chinese Taipei's Chun-hsin Tseng/Su-wei Hsieh in mixed doubles second round. A win here will ensure India a shot at medal. 

India had won gold in mixed doubles at the 2022 edition where Rutuja partnered Rohan Bopanna.

The focus now shifts to men's doubles quarterfinals in tennis, where Yuki Bhambri-Dhakshineshwar Suresh are playing Chinese Taipei's Yu-hsiou Hsu/Chenjui Ho. The Indian pair lost the first set 7-6 and is trailing the seond set 4-1.

There you have it! India have their first medal from wrestling. India's Sunil Kumar has won his bronze-medal match 9-0.  

India's Sunil Kumar has taken a 7-0 lead in men's greco-roman 87kg in his bronze-medal match against Phillipines Callum Roberts. If he reaches 8, he will be assured of the bronze medal.  

A couple of matches are yet to be completed on the mat before Sunil Kumar’s Men’s 87kg Greco-Roman bronze medal match begins. In the same category, Kazakhstan’s Shamil Ozhaev is set to face Uzbekistan’s Jalgasbay Berdimuratov for another bronze medal in the same category. 

India’s Sunil Kumar will clash with Callum Roberts of the Philippines in the men's Greco-Roman 87kg bronze medal bout. Sunil reached the medal match after working his way through the repechage rounds, setting up a high-stakes encounter for a spot on the podium.

The match is to start at 3:00 PM IST.

Anirudh Chandrasekar and N Sriram Balaji bowed out in the men’s doubles quarter-finals, falling to China’s Jiang Fumin and Zhang Tianhui 7-6(4), 6-7(7), [8-10].

It was an enthralling contest, with all three sets pushed to tie-break deciders. The Indian duo eventually missed out by just two points in a tense 10-point match tie-break.

That's a defeat for India's Asmita Dey! 

She misses out on a bronze medal, falling to Mongolia's Narantsetseg Ganbaatar in the women's 48kg judo bout. Ganbaatar secured the victory after scoring a Waza-ari to seal the win. Both judokas received a single Shido (penalty) during the contest.

The first bronze medal match in the women’s 48kg category in Judo has begun! It’s Tajikistan’s Ahliya Muminova who is up against Chen-Hao of Chinese Taipie for the final spot on the podium. Asmita's match to start after this.

Next up for India will be Asmita Dey's bronze medal match against Mongolia's Narantsetseg Ganbaatar. Asmita fought through the repechage rounds to reach this point in the women's 48kg judo bout.

Sahil Jadhav begins with a 10 to set the pace for India, Ganesh follows it up with a 10 too. Kushal follows it up with a 10 too, putting pressure on China. In response, the Chinese hit 8,10 and 10 as tables turn. The situation has now put India in the lead by one point. 

Sahil continues to lead the way superbly, as he shoots another 10. As does Ganesh, with another 10. Kushal keeps the pressure on the Chinese as well with another 10. India move up to 178.

The Chinese begin with a 10, a great start. And they follow that up with another 10. And then another. This is such a high-quality final. With just end to go, China lead 179-178. Will China allow India to make up?

Flawless from India, but China still ahead!

India step up with an sensational second end, firing a perfect 60/60 to raise their match total to 118. China initially had one arrow marked as a 9, but target judges confirmed it bit the line for a 10. That keeps the Chinese team at a relentless, unbroken 120 through two ends.

India trail 118-120 at the halfway stage. Exceptional shooting from the boys to keep the pressure sky-high, now awaiting any slip from the leaders!

Kapil comes out with far greater purpose, opening up with sharp combinations that land cleanly. Turabek responds with a heavy left hook, but the Indian continues to press the pace.

Despite Kapil's improved output, Turabek edges the second round 4-1 on the cards.

With two rounds down, Kapil faces a steep uphill climb to turn this bout around in the final round!

The Chinese trio are in blistering form, opening the gold-medal match with a flawless 60/60, dropping six straight 10s.

India stay right in touch through Sahil (10) and Kushal (10), while Ganesh hits a 9, bringing India's opening end total to 58.

India trail 58-60 after End 1. A tight two-point gap to bridge, but with three ends still to play, there is plenty of time for India to turn the pressure back on China!

Mixed fortunes for India on the tennis court!

Sumit Nagal produced a clinical, dominant display to dismiss Uzbekistan's Sergey Fomin 6-3, 6-2, sailing into the quarter-finals in straight sets.

However, Dhakshineswar Suresh's singles run comes to an end after a hard-fought battle against Chinese Taipei's Tseng Chun-hsin, falling 3-6, 4-6.

Veer Chotrani gives India a 1-0 lead after winning the opening match against Kuwait’s Bader Almoghrebi 12-10, 8-11, 11-0, 11-5. Up next for India in the team event is Abhay Singh is taking on Ammar Altammimi.

Another outstanding round of shooting from Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda has placed India in absolute command of this final! China have been eliminated in third place, leaving India leading the pack with 26 hits out of 30-holding a crucial two-shot cushion at the top.

Iran is the first team to be eliminated after Series 2, meaning a medal is assured for India in the Mixed Team Trap shooting final. Because of a fault with the trap machinery, an unexpected hold-up has emerged!

Brilliant comeback from India in the second series as both Neeru and Chenai hit 5/5 to add 10 points to India's total. The second series score takes India to the second spot!

Lovlina ignites the second round with a crisp left hook, but Natalya fires straight back with a heavy strike of her own!

The action opens up significantly as both fighters trading blows with far greater urgency. Natalya tries to storm the end of the round with a aggressive flurry, even bundling Lovlina to the canvas in the process.

However, it’s Lovlina’s cleaner, more damaging strikes that catch the judges' eyes! She sweeps the second round 5-0!

India's Commonwealth Games champion Asmita Dey moves to within one victory of an Asian Games medal! She produced a disciplined performance to defeat Hong Kong's Wong Ka Lee by Yuko in her repechage bout, setting up a high-stakes podium clash.

Asmita will now face Mongolia's Ganbaataryn Narantsetseg in the bronze medal contest at around 1:45 PM.

Next up for India in boxing is the women’s 75kg semifinal is Lovlina Borgohain. She takes on Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bagdanova for a spot in the gold medal match.

Better from Priya, much better. Cleaner hits, better movement in the ring, but the Chinese pugilist still maintains the upper hand. Yang takes the second round too, wins 4-1. Just the third round to go.

Yang comes out aggressively, but Priya counters brilliantly, landing crisp punches halfway through the round. Priya's combination strikes are doing serious damage as she finds her rhythm! Yang answers right at the bell with a heavy punch of her own.

The first of today's three high-stakes boxing semi-finals is under way!

India's Priya Ghanghas takes to the ring against China's Yang Chengyu in a high-profile clash of pedigree. Yang enters the contest as the 2025 World Championship bronze medallist, while Priya arrives brimming with confidence following her glorious gold medal run at the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The winner of this bout will take on Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-ting, the reigning Paris Olympic gold medallist!

At the end of the first day, Saptak Talwar finished with a four-under 66, while Veer Ahlawat and Yuvraj Sandhu both finished with a one-over 71.

Saptak is currently one stroke off the lead, while India are joint fifth in the team standings.

Heartbreak for Nisha as her Asian Games campaign comes to an abrupt end! After leading by a point in the first period and adding three more to her tally in the second, Nisha seemed in complete control against South Korea's Park Hyeonyeong. A tough pill to swallow after a promising fightback, but Nisha bows out following a valiant effort on the mat.

In the second rotation, China produces a 9, 10, 10 to accumulate 29/30 points. India responds with a brilliant 30/30 to reclaim the 3-point lead.

China start the second end with a 9, followed by two 10s, bringing their tally to 87/90. Chikitha drops India’s first point of the final with a 9, but Prithika and Jyothi keep things steady with consecutive 10s to keep India ahead at 89-87.

China then produce a 29 (10, 10, 9), but India answer with absolute perfection. Chikitha, Prithika, and Jyothi all hitting 10s to stretch India's lead to three points at 119-116 at the halfway mark.

China open the gold medal match with three consecutive 9s to finish their first rotation on 27. India step up, and Chikitha, Prithika, and Jyothi all hit 10s to take an early 30-27 lead.

China bounce back in the second rotation with a perfect 30. India respond in brilliant fashion, matching them with another clean sweep of 10s.

India vs China Women's Team Compound Archery Final set to begin! Having eliminated South Korea 234-233 in the semi-finals, the defending champions, led by Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, will face the Chinese trio to decide who takes home the gold.

South Korea hold a 1-2 lead after two rapid fire pistol relays. A 94 in the final series sees Lee drop just behind compatriot Yoon. The Chief Range Officer has called the next group of athletes to the firing line, with India's Anish among them.

India off to a victorious start in Women’s Team squash as Tanvi Khanna outlasts Singapore’s Wai Lynn Au Yeong 3-1. In the second match of the team clash, it’s the women’s singles silver-medallist, Anahat Singh, is who is set to take on Wai Yhann Au Yeong.

Not the result India wanted but Vietnam were simply better in the Group A match. Vietnam secure a 15-7, 15-8 victory to wrap-up the contest 2-0.

In shooting, India’s Anish Bhanwala is yet to begin his 25m Rapid Pistol Men’s Individual qualification round. He isn’t a part of the first relay that is currently taking place. At the top, at present, is South Korea’s Gunhyeok, followed by his compatriot Seoyeong Yoon.
 

At the end of the first nine holes, Saptak Talwar sits in joint second place at three-under par (32), powered by birdies on the second, third, and fifth. Veer Ahlawat has had a roller-coaster front nine. A double bogey on the opening hole was wiped out by a brilliant eagle on the eighth, but bogeys on the fourth and ninth leave him at two-over par (37).

Yuvraj Sandhu has also experienced an eventful outing, balancing two bogeys with three birdies to finish the nine with a one-under 34. With four full days of golf ahead, there is still a long way to go before any medals are decided.

A full shot-by-shot breakdown for the trap mixed team qualification is not yet available, leaving the hit-miss ratio unclear. However, India have climbed to fifth in the dynamic standings, with their current score standing at 38 as we await the series breakdown.

Fresh off her gold medal in the women’s trap yesterday, India’s Neeru Dhanda is back in action for the trap mixed team qualification. India start strongly and currently sit in third place behind Kazakhstan and Iraq, though with trap qualifications moving quickly, these leaderboard standings can shift rapidly.

South Korea pile on the pressure with another perfect set of three 10s to reach 175/180. Feeling the heat, Chikitha drops a point with a 9, and Prithika manages a 9 as well. Jyothi closes out the rotation with a solid 10, but South Korea's flawless 60 brings them right back into this semifinal. With the broadcast scoring currently frozen, my tally has the scores tied at 175-175 with just one end remaining.

We are going into the final end now!

South Korea kick off the second half with a perfect 30. Chikitha and Prithika match them with strong 10s, but a rare 9 from Jyothi, her first of the match, sees India’s lead trimmed to two points at 147-145.

The Indian team delivers another flawless end, with Chikitha, Prithika, and Jyothi all finding the 10-ring.

Kang’s struggles continued with a third consecutive 9. Despite two 10s from her teammates, South Korea have slipped further behind as India stretched their advantage to three points, leading 118-115 at the halfway mark.

India wobbled slightly in the third end with a 9 from Chikitha, but Prithika and Jyothi quickly steadied the ship with consecutive 10s.

South Korea faltered in response, dropping three straight 9s in the rotation, giving India their first lead of the match at 88-86.

India open solidly with a 10 from Chikitha, a 9 from Prithika, and another 10 from Jyothi, but South Korea answered with a flawless 30. Knowing a near-perfect total near 240 is crucial, India hit back immediately with three consecutive 10s.

A 9 from Kang Yeonseo on Korea's next attempt brings the score tied at 59-59 at the quarter-way mark.

A massive clash begins for India as they prepare to face South Korea in the compound women’s team semi-finals. India enter as defending champions across all compound events, but South Korea are closing the gap rapidly, now boosted by the inclusion of compound archery in the Olympic programme and armed with a 14-year-old phenom, Kang Yeonsoo.

India's Anish Bhanwala has begun his qualifying round in men's 25m rapid individual qualification Stage 1. Shooters have earned India many medals in this campaign, including a couple of top-podium finishes. There are big hopes from Anish to add to that tally.
