Sania Mirza and Saketh Myneni's successful run at the Asian Games 2014 continued as the pair beat Chinese Taipei's Hsien Yin Peng and Hao Ching Chan 6-4, 6-3 to win India's sixth gold medal at Incheon.Â
The Indian pair started well, breaking their opponents in the fourth game to win the first set 6-4 and go 1-0 up in the match. Carrying forward momentum into the second set, they broke in the very first game to pile on the pressure. The top seeds responded well to stage a comeback.Â
After going neck-to-neck at 3-3 in the second set, second seeds Sania and Myneni broke again to go ahead 4-3 and won the set and the match in the next two games to complete their victory in straight sets.
This is Sania's third consecutive Asian Games mixed doubles final appearance. In 2006, she won a gold with Leander Paes. She followed that up with a silver medal in 2010 with Vishnu Vardhan and has now won a gold with Saketh Myneni at Incheon. She took to twitter to describe her joy on an eventful day at Incheon.
