... FOURTH INNINGS ...
-
!
The Australian bowlers had a good outing the second time around as Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon took four wickets each with Josh Hazlewood and Cameron Green chipping in with one a piece. They have given their batters an achievable target and they will want their openers to get off to a solid start and set up this run chase. England will want some early wickets to put the pressure on the Australian batting lineup and with conditions predicted to be overcast on the final day, it will definitely provide some assistance to their pace bowlers. The game is set up nicely and in the balance with thrilling action coming our way in the third and final session of Day 4 so do join us at 9.10 pm IST (3.40 pm GMT) to see how the game unfolds.

This game is set up nicely for a cracking finish as the result could go either way or we could even have a drawn game if the weather gods decide to have the last laugh on the final day of this Test match. England were off to a good start in this inning but rain killed their momentum on Day 3 which resulted in the wickets of both the openers. Joe Root began the day looking to play an audacious shot and made his intentions clear as he played the aggressor in the 50-run partnership in 47 deliveries with Ollie Pope. The latter departed after getting off to a decent start but Harry Brook did not allow the momentum to drop as he stitched together a 52-run partnership in 49 balls with Root. Both the batters departed four runs short of their half-century before the Lunch break. Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow steadied the ship adding 46 runs for the 6th wicket but after the skipper departed on 43, they began losing wickets in regular intervals. Bairstow and Moeen Ali both got decent starts but could not make it count and Ollie Robinson helped take the lead over the 250-run mark. Some crucial runs from the number nine and number ten batters swelled up the lead a fraction and the hosts will no that they have a fighting chance to win this game.

SESSION SUMMARY - 118 runs, 29.2 overs, 5 wickets. England have been bowled out here and the target for Australia is 281! This has been an intriguing session of Test cricket as the match has moved at a rapid pace and we are in for a cracking final four sessions of this first Ashes Test match. England went into Lunch having lost half their side with a lead of 162 runs and two of their most devastating batters at the crease. Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow looked to get themselves in initially before playing some cracking shots in their 46-run partnership. The skipper was trapped in front of the stumps seven runs short of his half-century off the bowling of Pat Cummins and that resulted in a few quick wickets. They lost Jonny Bairstow to Nathan Lyon soon after for 20 and Moeen Ali looked good getting his 19 runs but played one down leg side to a short ball from Josh Hazlewood. Ollie Robinson and Stuart Broad held the fort for a bit as they put together a gritty partnership with the former playing a handy 27-run cameo. He hauled out in the deep giving Nathan Lyon his fourth wicket before James Anderson edged a Pat Cummins' delivery after playing a few crowd-lifting shots.
