Delhi lose opening Santosh Trophy qualifying round match

Uttarakhand scored a 3-2 victory over hosts Delhi in a Group A encounter of the north zone qualifying round of the 68th Santosh Trophy Senior National Football Championship which gets underway here on Thursday.
Delhi were responsible for letting themselves down because of silly mistakes committed by captain Monu Choudhary who wasted a spot-kick in mid session of the initial half.
Vice-captain and goalkeeper Yogesh Kumar also fumbled thrice under the bar.
Uttarakhand shot into the 0 lead in the 47th minute through Ashok Singh Kalakoti. Delhi came back in the game in 59th minute through medio Shashank Mamgain before taking the lead in the 67th minute through Vikas Rawat who scored from a corner kick.
Thereafter, Uttarakhand took advantage of Delhi's defensive lapses and their medio Saurabh Rawat struck twice in the 81st and 87th minutes to give his side a vital win.
Earlier in the opening match, Haryana beat Chandigarh 2-1 to collect three full points. Haryana took 1-0 lead in the 15th minute through Rahul while Abhishek made it 2-0 in the 28th minute.
Chandigarh reduced the margin 1-2 in the 43rd minute through Pawandeep Singh.
