New Zealand registered a 97-run win over Canada who made them work hard for the victory, in the group A match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Jacob Oram was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand, capturing 3 wickets at the cost of 47 runs.

No. 5 batsman Jimmy Hansra scored an unbeaten 70 and put on 125 runs for the 4th wicket with skipper Ashish Bagai. He was forced to retire hurt on 53, after being hit on the toe by an Oram yorker, but came back to finish the inning.
Zoom
Bagai played a valiant knock of 84 off 87 balls to lead the Canadian resistance and ensure they reached a respectable total.

The lone sore point for the Kiwis came when their new ball bowler Kyle Mills had to retire during only his 3rd over. He had bowled beautifully until then.

Mills struck early, snapping the wickets of Canadian opener Ruvindu Gunasekera and No.3 batsman Zubin Surkari in quick succession.

Earlier, cameo knocks by James Franklin (31* off 8), Scott Styris (35 off 20) and Kane Williamson (34* off 27) helped New Zealand post a huge total of 358/6.
Zoom
Medium-pacer Rizwan Cheema had a horrible day, giving away 64 runs in 4.5 overs and also dropping Kiwi batting mainstay Ross Taylor.
Zoom
Taylor who was the stand-in-captain in place of Daniel Vettori, once again displayed his power hitting, slamming 5 sixes and 6 fours to make 74 off just 44 balls.
Zoom
Off the Canadian bowlers, John Davison was the only one to return with good figures. He conceded just 30 runs in his 10 overs and also took the wicket of Jesse Ryder.
Zoom
The soild foundation for the huge Kiwi score was laid by opener Brendon McCullum who got them off to a flier and smashed a ton after New Zealand were put in to bat by Canada.
