US First Lady Michelle Obama is an ardent fan of tennis. Little surprise then that she was seen at the 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids Day at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

US First Lady Michelle Obama is an ardent fan of tennis. Little surprise then that she was seen at the 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids Day at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

A vocal supporter of more physical activities for children, Michelle has always said that playing sports is crucial for kids.

This time, she admitted that she herself never played tennis which is why she encouraged her daughters to take up the sport.

“It's a great way to stay healthy, to stay fit, it's a lifelong sport, it's something I've tried to tell my kids — I forced them into playing tennis, because I didn't want them to be like me, but it's a great way to stay active,” the first lady was quoted as telling children by ABC News. “And today I don't worry about how good I am, because I'm not very good, so it's easy.”

She even had good words to say about the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and praised them for partnering with her “Let's Move” children's health campaign.

Expressive as always, Michelle encouraged children to play sports not just while growing up but to make it a life-long passion.
