Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans Highlights, IPL 2025: Mohammed Siraj, Jos Buttler Spoil RCB's Homecoming As GT Win By 8 Wickets

Bang on!!! What an over!!! What a finish!!!! In the 18th over, Gujarat Titans needed 20 runs to win. Jos Buttler hits two sixes off Josh Hazlewood and then Sherfane Rutherford completes the game with a massive six as GT beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets in the chase of 170. Apart from them, Sai Sudharsan scored 49. For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood scalped one wicket each. 

16 overs are up and Gujarat Titans are comfortably looking as the winners. They now need 29 runs off 24 balls to seal the victory. Can Royal Challengers Bengaluru turn the tables? 

FIFTY!!!! Jos Buttlrr hits a brilliant six off Liam Livingstone and completes his half-century in style. He takes 31 balls to reach the fifty as Gujarat Titans are dominant in this run chase. They now need 36 runs to win from 30 balls.

Josh Hazlewood breaks the strong stand between Jos Buttler and Sia Sudharsan as he dismisses the later for 49. Sudharsan walks across to play the lap and is cramped by the back of a length delivery, gloves the shot and the ball lobs behind the wicket, Jitesh Sharma runs to his right and hangs on. Second wicket gone for GT. 

Both Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler are inching closer towards his respective half-centuries. In the previous over of Krunal Pandya, the duo scores 17 runs, which include a maximum from Buttler and two boundaries from Sudharsan. With this, Sudharsan is batting at 48 while Buttler is batting at 39.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru end their innings at 169/8 in 20 overs against Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru. For RCB, Liam Livingstone scored 54 while Jitesh Sharma scored. Apart from them, Tim David also scored 32. For GT, pacer Mohammed Siraj was the star bowler with three wickets. Apart from him, Sai Kishore took two wickets. Liam Livingstone is standing like a strong wall for as he is comfortably dealing in boundaries. In the previous over of Rashid Khan, he hits three massive sixes and completes his half-century in 39 balls. RCB have gained the lost momentum as Livingstone is on fire. 

After losing six wickets, the onus has fallen on the shoulders of Liam Livingstone and Tim David to bring the Royal Challengers Bengaluru out of the mess and propel them to a good total. In the previous over of Rashid Khan, the duo scores 14 runs, which include a six from Livingstone and a boundary from David.

Sai traps Jitesh with his spin as the batter tries to go for a big hit but fails to time the shot properly. The ball then lands into the hands of Rahul Tewatia, who redeems himself after dropping Jitesh in the previous over. Fifth wicket gone for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

SIX!!!! WOWOWOWOW!!!!!! This is what Liam Livingstone is known for, his powerful hitting. In the previous over of Rashid Khan, Livingstone moves across, almost picks this off the stump line, crouches low and heaves it over deep square leg for a huge maximum. RCB slowly coming back into the game.

Despite taking the DRS, the decision comes in the favour of GT as RCB lose their fourth wicket. 

After losing the wicket of Phil Salt, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have gone on the backfoot. Skipper Rajat Patidar has been joined Liam Livingstone and the duo is slowly taking RCB ahead. In the previous over of Prasidh Krishna, the duo scores three runs. RCB's score now read 38/3, which is the second lowest powerplay score of this season. The lowest was Chennai Super Kings' 30/3. 

OUT !!!! Mohammed Siraj, you beauty!!!! This can be considered as one of the best comebacks of IPL as Siraj takes a brilliant revenge from Phil Salt. Salt gets hit for the joint-biggest maximum of the season by Salt. On the next delivery, the GT pacer cleans up Salt for 14. RCB lose their third wicket as GT roar in Bengaluru. 

Despite losing two huge wickets in the early stages of the game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru gain some momentum as Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar are forming a good partnership. In the previous over of Arshad Khan, the duo scores 12 runs. This includes one boundary from both the batters. 

OUT!!! Mohammed Siraj has done it!!! On his return to his former home ground Bengaluru, pacer Mohammed Siraj shines and provides Gujarat Titans with their second breakthrough of the day. This time, he removes Devdutt Padikkal for 4. Padikkal tries to go for a big hit but Siraj's pace beats Padikkal's bat as the ball comfortably rattles up the off stump. Second wicket gone for RCB.

He removes the biggest star Virat Kohli for seven. Kohli seems to be slightly cramped on the pull and doesn't keep it down. He picks out Prasidh Krishna at deep backward square who makes no mistake and takes an easy catch. First wicket gone for RCB. 

The highly anticipated battle between Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj begins on a blockbuster note. Kohli makes his intentions clear from the very first delivery as he hits a terrific boundary. Seeing this, the Chinnaswamy crowd goes berserk but Siraj makes a good comeback as he leaks only one more run in the rest of the over.

"Would've bowled first as well because it's a new surface. It's pretty hard and won't change much. The way boys are chipping in gives a lot of confidence as a captain. We love this crowd. The way they love us and the support we've always received is incredible. Same team," said Rajat Patidar. 

"We'll bowl first. Looks like a good wicket. We've seen the conditions don't change much. We're all about reducing our unforced errors. We'll try to finetune the areas that need it. Kagiso misses out due to personal reasons so we've got Arshad Khan back," said Shubman Gill. 

"Very confident. Great start to the tournament, two games on the road, we said about making a strong start as it helps in the later stages, hopefully we can carry it on here. It is our first chance to play in front of our home fans, everybody is really excited, we have been waiting for this day for a long while now, hopefully we can go out and put on a show. I enjoy both (batting and bowling). I feel like I can contribute with both these days, bowling might be a little difficult at this ground than what it is away from home, excited for the challenge and hopefully I can contribute with both tonight. There hasn't been much dew when we have trained. We don't know what the pitch is going to happen, try and assess the conditions with whatever we do first," said Liam Livingstone. 

"First of all, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to be playing in the IPL, it's always great to be playing in this tournament, as a team we're in a good space, we'll take 1 (win) from 2 on any day. Unfortunately for me, it hasn't been a good start, I think I could have done better, but it's a lot of learning and a lot of positives, I think I can keep learning as the days go by. It definitely did a lot for us (on the win in the last match), after the first half, we felt we were 10-15 runs short, but the bowlers adapted well on a slow surface, it's all about improving in small areas and doing better tonight," said Sherfane Rutherford. 

"It's pitch number 6 which wasn't used last year. 68m and 61m square boundaries, the straight boundary is 73m. 68m and 74m pockets on either side of the straight boundary. The wicket looks pretty dry, but there could be good bounce. It's well covered with grass and the pitch looks firm. It does look like a very good track, the ball should come on nicely. Toss doesn't really matter with 197 being the average first innings total, local knowledge says that dew could be a factor later on," opine Murli Kartik and Matthew Hayden, in their pitch report.

Kagiso Rabada has a good head-to-head match-up against Virat Kohli in all T20s, bagging his wicket four times in 14 innings while limiting his strike-rate to an appreciable 113. In short, the team whose bowlers adapt better to the conditions has better chances of coming out on the right side of the result.
