Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer, who has already been penalized twice by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his on-field celebrations, couldn't resist repeating the same in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants. Rana was recently handed a 100% fine on his match fee and also one-match suspension for breach of IPL Code of Conduct. The uncapped Indian didn't go overboard with his celebration against LSG but still managed to 'tease' those running the IPL.
Seeing Harshit's celebration in the match against the Lucknow franchise, fans felt the pacer was 'teasing' the BCCI. The pacer kept a finger on his mouth, with KKR also deciding to share the picture on social media.
Earlier, the BCCI handed a stringent punishment to Rana for his extravagant celebration on the field in the match against the Delhi Capitals.
"Mr Harshit Rana, bowler, Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined 100 per cent of his match fees and suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on April 29, 2024," the BCCI had said in a release.
The KKR pacer was found guilty of committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. Rana admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction.
"Rana committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the match referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee's decision is final and binding," the statement further read.
"The player was earlier penalised under the same level and article of the IPL Code of Conduct," it added.
It isn't yet known if the BCCI would take offense of Harshit Rana's celebration against the Super Giants and hand him another penalty.
