A team that has gone from strength to strength since the first IPL, Mumbai Indians' third place finish in season 4 did little to satisfy their star-studded line-up.
In the fifth edition of the tournament, their side looks even stronger as it looks to launch a full-fledged assault towards the coveted title.

The master blaster finally has the 100th 100-monkey off his back. Even in the short span after reaching the milestone, Sachin Tendulkar has shown signs of playing with greater freedom and flair. The right hander, who will turn 39 during the course of the tournament, remains their main batsman at the top and will hope to get them off to a good start.

The swashbuckler from West Indies is back for another season of fireworks. Not just a dynamic batsman, but a handy bowler and excellent fielder as well, Kieron Pollard's success in the tournament could well decide the fortunes of the Mumbai Indians.

Dropped from the national team, the turbanator is out to prove a point to the selectors. Harbhajan Singh will look to make the most out of conducive conditions that he is expected to encounter during the course of the tournament.

The highest wicket taker for Mumbai, Lasith Malinga remains their go to man for wickets. Malinga's deadly yorkers and unusual action make him an effective prospect at both ends of an innings.

Included in the Mumbai Indians ranks in 2011, Rohit Sharma has assumed a firm position in their middle order. A dashing middle order batsman and an athletic fielder, Sharma is expected to add stability to the team in crucial situations.

Another fresh face in the team, Dinesh Karthik would look to continue his good run with the Delhi Daredevils. Nimble between the wickets, good at finding gaps and not to mention his skills as a keeper make him a valuable asset to the team.

There is fierce competition in Mumbai Indians' batting order and Aiden Blizzard is certainly a run machine at the top of the order. This southpaw from Down Under is never shy to give the ball a good bash and this makes him a dangerous proposition during the fielding restrictions.

A purple cap winner with the Deccan Chargers, Pragyan Ojha is a player who makes the most of his abilities. He is known to tie the batsmen down and reduce the scoring rate; a fact proven by his low economy rate in an event where a dot ball is like gold.

Ambati Rayudu is the kind of player who can salvage a lost game. He has done it in the past and is ready to do it again as he looks to launch another bid for a place in the national side.

With his unpredictable off spin, Ali Murtaza can create a lot of doubt in the batsman's mind. Equipped with variation in trajectory and pace, Murtaza's role will be of breaking partnerships as well as handling the death overs.
