Two superb knocks from Moeen Ali and Joe Root helped England dominate the Indian bowlers on Day 1 of the fifth and final Test being played in Chennai.

Ravindra Jadeja was the bowler of the day with three scalps. He also removed Cook to put India in command at the start

But Joe Root and Moeen Ali struck a brilliant 146-run partnership for the third wicket to take England out of trouble

Root scored a solid 88 to end up making a half-century of more in all the five Tests of the series

Moeen Ali, on the other hand, scored his fifth career century and second of the series to put England in command

India captain Virat Kohli was at a loss of words on why his bowlers could not dominate the day's play

And India kept watching as England piled on the runs throughout the afternoon

But the day belonged to Ali who scored his fourth century of the year. He will be eager to add more to his tally on Day 2
