Ranchi:

Star batsman Kevin Pietersen put in extra hours at the net sessions as he looked at ease against the local bowlers but the innovation was England pacers bowling to batsmen's dummies during the practice session.

The English team also made their intent clear to attack the pace-wary Indian batsmen in their practice session for more than three hours.

Pace duo of Steven Finn and Jade Dernbach bowled to a batsmen's dummy kept on the practice wicket in an innovative style rarely seen during cricket practice.

The duo persisted an off-stump line with the dummy kept right-handed but after they reversed it, the pacers attacked the middle and leg stump line as they bowled persistently on the channel for more than an hour.

The vital cog in English batting line-up, Pietersen played aggressive shots while the pacers were seen bowling to dummies in a session that stretched for more than three hours.

After the English team members were done with their practice, Pietersen batted for more than half an hour with his focus on hitting the balls out of the park.

Indians might have had some trouble with the bounce, but the English batsmen kept their focus on hitting the ball out of the 30-yard rope.

On a batting-friendly track, it was not just Pietersen, most of the English batsmen put up an aggressive approach looking to make full use of the new rule that stipulates five fielders inside the circle for the entire 50 overs.
